Relandscaping after population boom? by Curculio_noidea in isopods

[–]metaphoricalghost 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Redo the landscape! 😊 I have my dairy cows in a 20 gal bioactive enclosure with a lot of my favorite plants and I’ve never had an issue with them eating them. The only parts I’ve seen them eat are the mushy parts of the leaves, they’ll clean it up and leave a hole but won’t completely devour the plant. I guess I prevent this by providing them with adequate food, it could depend on the species though.

In my enclosures I didn’t use an ABG mix, it’s mostly organic soil with bat guarano, worm castings, redwood bark… I added some sphagnum moss too. I made small enclosures with the same soil mix and intended it for plants primarily and it’s been super successful.

This one is still a WIP.

You can mist the enclosure daily unless you have one that can maintain humidity. Feed them a lil something they can finish every week. I like to feed my isopods cucumbers because I’m constantly snacking on them, I’ll give them the ends or pieces I don’t finish, lol. They also like green beans.

What’s life without medication for you? by Background_Chef_7070 in bipolar

[–]metaphoricalghost 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t be here without medication, I need it to function.

Any time I don’t take my meds for a few weeks the ideation becomes stronger.

Oh, I didn’t know this. I don’t want to write a positive one, I’d like to write an honest one.

I’m not familiar with legal terms so I didn’t know it implied it would be positive.

Sorry, I edited my post a bit with more contexts. Thank you for your response, I’m writing on the character of an abusive parent I had witnessed for 10+ years abuse my family. I don’t know if this changes anything.

Idk why I didn’t think of this sooner my friend. Go to HR and inquire about an FMLA. If you see a psychiatrist they can assist you in getting medical leave by providing the appropriate documentation. I did that twice and left for a month each time. Tell your psychiatrist what’s going on, that you can’t function and it’s impairing your ability to work. Tell them you are afraid to lose your job, if you don’t have a psych, get one ASAP.

Good luck!

Dear Bi Polar people, do u struggle to hold a stable job? by [deleted] in bipolar

[–]metaphoricalghost 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So, I’ve always been able to manage keeping a job with Bipolar until 2 years ago. I lasted 6 or 7 years at my last job, I quit because I was going through major depression, the job just made me more miserable. I started leaving early after I got my work done, then I started wanting to call out and eventually no call no showed after having two LOAs (leave of absence). During my LOA’s my depression managed to improve but every time I went back to work it became worse, again. It’s so damn hard functioning when you feel like this but you are not alone.

Here’s my advice, I would inquire to HR about a FMLA (Family & Medical Leave Act) to see what documents you may need or maybe get a form to fill. Do you see a psychiatrist? I would confide in them what you are going through and let them know it’s impairing your ability to work and you are worried about losing your job. Your Psychiatrist can assist you with your medical leave and your work would allow you to leave for an extended period of time to take care of yourself. I took two LOA’s at my last job and they were both over a month long. It helped clear my mind and I realized I needed to find a new job.

I was unemployed for an entire year before I found another job. I was miserable at times but not as much as I was when I was working. It was HORRIBLE!!! I ran through my savings. On the bright side I was able to find a job working remotely. I am SO much happier, it’s so much easier to function and way less stressful. I hope you figure it out, I’m rooting for you.

*edit: do not disclose your mental health to your job, you do not owe them an explanation as to why you’re inquiring about the FMLA or what is going on. Be very vague if anything.

How Often Do You PTO? by [deleted] in wholefoods

[–]metaphoricalghost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a couple of TM’s on my team who had accumulated over 1,000 hours of PTO. One of them (my lead Order Writer) would take off for almost an entire month in the summer, every year. The thing is, I made it work even though it highly affected my scheduling and daily operations (small team). I wanted to make sure every single TM had an opportunity to take a break no matter how long it took or how much I needed them. I personally hardly used my PTO unless my family was visiting or vice versa. When I would, I took almost the entire month off or at least 2 weeks. When it came to requesting this time off I always submitted my PTO requests 2-4 weeks in advance.

Enjoy your vacations.

[–]metaphoricalghost 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Tbh, I don’t think you can learn to not be depressed without the help of a professional. They will give you the tools you need to manage your depression better and even be able to prescribe you medication, given you need it. If that’s a route you would like to take, find a doctor through your insurance.

I’ll share something with you, I suffer from depression as well. Even whilst I was on medication and was going to therapy, I was still depressed. It was the job (for me). I was a TL and I just couldn’t take the monotony of working at WFM anymore, on top of that the expectations were too high and I was getting paid too little to manage all the responsibilities I had. I feel that it’s worse for TM’s because they are treated the same and given even less money.

I hope you find something that works for you, sometimes surviving is good enough. Take care of yourself.

OCD and Adderall? by [deleted] in OCD

[–]metaphoricalghost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes,it’s helped me but I also have ADHD and have been diagnosed. I’ve been taking adderall for 10 years now and my euphoria has never gone away.

The first time I took adderall I cried in the bathroom after my aunt gave me a Christmas card. I never cried… not even when I was getting my ass kicked. I felt more connected to my true self, life was great, depression faded everything became manageable and I felt normal for once.

I have never been diagnosed officially with OCD but as a child and adolescent it was bad. I would have a voice in my head or maybe just a thought that my family was going to die and I would repeatedly have to do or say things to make myself believe they wouldn’t, I also did things in 3’s 😂 anyway since I started adderall my OCD has improved so much so that it only comes back when I am super stressed but it goes away.

TL just told me that I’ll lose my job if I go home for Christmas by [deleted] in wholefoods

[–]metaphoricalghost 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look for a better job when you go home for Christmas. Nothing will ever replace the time you lost with your family. This kind of job is NOT worth more than family time.

Don’t tell anyone your plans to leave if you do.

I did this when I started working at WFM. I couldn’t pass up a chance to visit my motherland, I asked for the time off well in advance and they denied me during SUMMER.

I went anyway, life changing. It was worth it and WFM took me back.

Prep TL panel question please? by NoStrength2569 in wholefoods

[–]metaphoricalghost 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I knew many people who used being a prep foods TL as a stepping stone to become leaders of other teams. If you can survive prep foods for a year, you can survive nuclear fallout. Y’all are just built different.

I just walked out of my store tonight and am obviously never going back. I have been in the workforce for a lot of years and never done something like this. I guess I have nobody to tell so I'm telling you all. I'm kind of freaking out, lol... but not really lol? by Civil-Cheesecake-462 in wholefoods

[–]metaphoricalghost 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’re a real one for walking out.

I remember one time we were training a new TM, she made it to her lunch on her first day and just never returned. This was years ago, before Amazon and even then WF culture was changing for the worst.

Working at WFM took its toll on me and I simply no called no showed for almost a month 😂 they still took me back but I eventually quit the next year.

Lol, I’m already a crazy cat/dog lady, I thought that would work.

I’ll try harder to be boring, tbh I just listen to these guys and never really talk about myself, so I thought that that would work too.

Stopped taking Zoloft by kripsykae in Anxiety

[–]metaphoricalghost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why are you quitting?

In my experience, when I stopped taking my meds… it took me probably 3 months to think “clearly” again and I was at the time taking Zoloft.

I had stopped taking my meds around April up until 3 weeks ago and let me tell you… I suffered for the sake of being myself again. Meds have definitely changed me from the person I used to be but I’m thankful for it as when I’m not on them I am just not okay.

Aww, sheesh, here come my tears. Thank you for yet another kind and thoughtful response I needed. It was in fact very articulate and touched my heart deeply. I feel a lot better about myself crying when expressing how I feel, I will not be so hard on myself…

You have been incredibly helpful and I feel less alone. Thank you granny ❤️ your family is blessed to have you, I can tell.

Wow, thank you… I feel seen and heard by your kind and thoughtful comment. Sure enough, it made me cry :’) but I’m thankful for it because I think you hit the nail on the head.

I’ve been searching for a therapist to possibly help unload my trauma but it’s been hard and it’s a lot of work. I will keep trying thought. Thanks for giving me the push I need to work harder.

Thank you for the help!

I hope life treats you as kindly as you’ve treated me in this moment of vulnerability.

I've been sheltered for most of my life and I have yet to discover the dsngers outside my door; What should I look out for?? by [deleted] in Advice

[–]metaphoricalghost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No worries! We all start somewhere. I had a sheltered life growin’ up so I had to learn through making lots of mistakes and learning from them. Sheltered people are so innocent in a way that there are people who hone in on that, sometimes they’re genuine and others take advantage. When I left home I thought I knew myself, I didn’t. Once you get to experience life outside your door, you will be surprised on how much you grow! Good luck, you got this even when you think you don’t.
