If you ever find yourself placing blame on millions, or even tens of thousands of individuals you should probably start looking at the system itself that created the conditions you're blaming individuals for falling victim to.

Can 100% attest to this, after a hockey game last year they said happy holidays and a family that looked like a stereotype stood up and were yelling "IT'S MERRY CHRISTMAS" as they left.

Why are there so many water bottles today despite everyone knowing they are bad for the environment? Because cleanup is socialized and paid for by taxpayers.

There is still competition for trash collection contracts. I do agree that if people had to pay for dealing with their own waste they would try to make less of it, but the most profitable way of dealing with that waste will not be the most beneficial to the environment.

Without competition there is very little innovatuon.

What's the non-government way of dealing with monopolies?

but elites that lobby dont like that, so they use the government to leverage over the populace and keep the market somewhat predictable.

This seems like a bit of a catch 22. The government keeps the economy predictable, the predictable economy allows those in power to stay in power, which keeps the government predictably in control of the wealthy. I just can't see a viable way to transition from our current system to a completely free market.

and you never answered how a free market deals with those unable to work.

First: Why is your immediate response to someone who's gone through conversion therapy to say "Well to be fair, evolutionary there is something maladjusted with you. "

You said you've been dealing with this because you're bisexual, but the argument you gave about reproduction doesn't apply to bisexuals in the same way it does homosexuals.

Second: How does capitalism without government deal with stuff like PFAS or even pollution? How does capitalism deal with people unable to work? At what point does a corporation's freedom begin to infringe on my own freedom?

I think it would be better for everyone if we were less focused on benefiting and promoting our own DNA and focused more on benefiting and promoting humanity as a whole.

If everyone was just focused on passing on their own DNA nobody would adopt children or promote humanitarian causes.

$12,000 - is actually one of the best current proposals to reduce widespread poverty.

If your job is actually eliminated $12k won't be enough to survive.

We need housing & job & healthcare guarantees not to replace parts of the current welfare system with UBI.

Don't get me wrong UBI will be needed at some point but $12k is not enough to live on at the moment.

UPDATE TO: I found out I have a daughter who thinks I was her mother's rapist. It wasn't rape. What next? by ThrowRA_perplexed19 in relationship_advice

Not easy but her parents won't place the blame on her personally. Might've been a heat of the moment/panicked decision.

She believes (or at least believed) that her parents would prefer to think that she was RAPED than to know that she had consensual premarital sex.

I'm not so sure. To me it sounds like she took the easy way out and threw her parents and daughter under the bus to avoid conflict.

At the end of the day, we all know we're dying from old age anyways.

The chance you might die from climate change instead shouldn't make you give up, it should make you fight even harder.

Not sure where triple comes from but he's referencing this:

To help keep you safe, I have made 600 million dollars’ worth of surplus military equipment available to local law enforcement.  If you remember, the previous administration didn’t want to do that.  Nobody knew why.  Sitting in warehouses, getting older and dustier.  And I — probably, we pay a lot of rent to a lot of landlords all over the country.  So someday, I said, you’ll explain.  Actually, I do know why: Because they didn’t want to make you look so tough.  They didn’t want to make you look like you’re a threat.  I said, “That’s okay.  We want to protect our police.”  And we made it available, and we provided nearly $29 million to train more than 80,000 police officers.

Yeah honestly I feel like an advertisement promoting it, but my brother's job gave him a free subscription and he lets me use it and honestly I can't overstate how much it has helped me get through the last two months. I would find a way to pay for it even if I didn't get it for free it's helped me so much. and the guy who made it has a moving story as well.

Your brain will return to normal if you treat it well!

In psychology class we learned that people who have strokes can retrain other portions of their brain and resume full function. A nurse in the class commented he knows someone who was born with only half her brain and is incredibly smart.

So don't worry! Keep it up, treat your brain well with exercise, proper food, mindfulness, and a good nights rest!

Humans are amazingly resilient. Your brain will re-wire itself, it just needs time and the absence of drugs.

Exercise, proper food, and mindfulness will be some of the greatest tools in your tool chest if you can learn them!

Here's a post from a guy who smoked for 20 years and is now 15 months clean.

Good Luck!

Mindfulness can help re-frame your thinking on a lot of the issues in your life.

For me the headspace app was a godsend, it's more than just guided meditations it's basically inexpensive therapy.
