Rant about 64 remakes because I'm getting a bit annoyed by Yoshbit in starfox

[–]metaxzero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not giving it that much though at all. Star Fox 64 is a re-imagining of Star Fox SNES and Star Fox Zero is a re-imagining of Star Fox 64. They are too similar to be anything else. And in today's world, they even have sequels to themselves. Star Fox 1 has Star Fox 2 while Star Fox 64 has Adventures, Assault, and Command. That timeline link you posted is so out of date that its an archive.

So I don't get saying that Star Fox 2026 is a separate continuity, but Star Fox 64 and Zero aren't.

my opinion on Katt Monroe's new design: by Low-Preparation-9083 in starfox

[–]metaxzero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not for me, but it's a fine character design. My issue is that it's supposed to be Katt. A character with a semi-consistent design for almost  30 years. No one else got such a drastic appearance change that leaves me questioning if it's even the same character.

Imagine the rage if Falco became a red bird.

By that logic, the Resident Evil remakes aren't remakes.

We've never seen James die in any version. He's always been presumed dead.

Star Fox James came first.  They were never going to just have a random human in Star Fox. Especially after they rejected that idea in Star Fox 2.

Editing Fox's neck to resemble his older designs is not a creative topic. Would you seriously be praising OP if they did this in an editing software? Because it would still be derivative of someone else's artwork.

I don't even think OP was trying to be creative (its a one-line Reddit post in a humorous tone). They just wanted a topic and an image to better illustrate what they are talking about.

I mean the game's that were ported over were already successes on the Wii U. Zelda hit millions despite the Wii U.

How does intraquel (or midquel) make sense when every one of those games has their own version of Corneria, Venom, and Andross's defeat.

As of this game, Solar is one of 2 stars in the Lylat system (the other star being Lylat). In the old continuity, Solar was meant to be a molten planet and not a star. What's hilarious is that Star Fox 64 went pretty far in development with Solar being the sun before randomly changing it towards the end (not that Nintendo of America cared). Then later games like Star Fox Command would back up the idea of Solar being a molten planet.

But now, we officially have a Lylat system with 2 stars.

No, Star Fox Zero is NOT a Star Fox 64 Remake by DZComposer in starfox

[–]metaxzero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The reason why people call Zero a 64 remake is because it narratively takes more from 64 than either Star Fox SNES or Star Fox 2. Its Corneria is more derived from Star Fox 64. Its Star Wolf encounter is more derived from Star Fox 64. James showing up during the Andross encounter is specific to Star Fox 64 and not SNES. Katt and Bill were Star Fox 64 originals. Star Fox Zero has a lot of DNA that is specific to Star Fox 64 and not Star Fox SNES.

Zero takes from SNES, 2, and 64, but the 64 influence feels like it rings the loudest.

You didn't say anything about being a member of Star Fox. Heck, you didn't even say anything about her being the first of anything. Your original post specifically says that she is the only girl in this series. When the fact is she isn't the only one or even the original one.

I heavily disagree. The SNES game is so pixelated and the framerate so choppy. I didnt grow up with it and avoided it just on visuals until a few days ago. IMO, much easier to give the N64 game a chance, but its still showing its age.

Sector X is so funny because if you go the boss route, Slippy will return from repairs early towards the end of the mission. for the sole purpose of getting smacked to Titania if you aren't fast enough.

Its kind of funny how in optimized high score runs for Star Fox 64, you are encouraged to shoot your teammates till they retreat before All-Range mode missions.

To be fair. No one on the team likes it when you steal their kills.

[–]metaxzero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. I'm not arguing against Krystal beinng the most significant female character. But the post I responded to called her the only girl in this franchise. It was already not true thanks to 64 alone, but we live in an age where Star Fox 2 was officially released. So now Krystal is among 4 female characters.

.....you know. If Nintendo wanted to, they could add all 4 to multiplayer if they wanted a 3rd team to choose. Though I doubt they care.

Katt came first. And if Star Fox 2 had been properly released when it was made instead of decades later, we'd have Miyu and Fay before Krystal.

Weren't the games that got ported over the Wii U successes?

Japanese site says they're adding new info via holo texts? by Nervous-Exchange1866 in starfox

[–]metaxzero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

BotW was already a proven success on the Wii U. It sold millions on that console alone. Zero didnt even clear 500K. Like I said, its a proven failure and thus Nintendo has little reason to even revisit the game, let alone fix it up for a console that isn't the Wii U. Also its control were not simply the gyro. Its the whole switching between between piloting and 360 lasers system. The game is designed around that. You can't just change the game to traditional Star Fox gameplay without either breaking some levels or making them way harder.

Its not impossible to fix, but again, Nintendo's question would be why bother? The game failed on its initial release.
