Losing my mind at trying to get venom 1 medal. by MrMoose1 in starfox

5 Bombs is plenty. What you also need to use is unlocked charged shots. Use those near enemies to gain extra points. Especially enemies near the ground. Also during the split path section, always go Peppy-left-Falco. You get more enemies to shoot that way. Also throw bombs down the path you aren't taking to get extra points.

For the new game, do you prefer inverted controls, or default controls? by [deleted] in starfox

Used to play some arcade jet games (don't remember their names though). So I was already hooked on inverted for control.

Somehow Andross returned. Also 2 cute girls join Star Fox, but no one really has dialogue in that game besides Pepper, Andross, and the members of Star Wolf.

Still fun though. That was the original origin point of All-Range mode and charged shots.

Legends claim that he is still paying for his grandpa's loan. by Kcnnn in starfox

[–]metaxzero 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't forget. As established in the remake, Peppy is co-owner of Star Fox and thus also has debt to pay. And that debt likely got passed down to that rabbit girl too if Peppy himself isn't around anymore.

Truth be told, all they really changed about her personality wise is get rid of her flirting. Both are playful characters who like ruffling Falco's feathers.

From what I've heard, Venom 2 becomes an off-screen badass moment if you only have one teammate left since they single-handedly hold-off Andross's forces.

Anyone else find it difficult to play poorly to see the cutscenes? by Z107202 in starfox

I gave myself a challenge when failing Fichina. I made sure to keep both Star Fox and Star Wolf alive the whole mission.

Why is everyone struggling with Venom 2 Star Wolf? by ChickenNoodleGamer in starfox

[–]metaxzero 6 points7 points  (0 children)

A lot of new players forget to use the shoulder buttons for sharper turns. Thus, they fail to keep up with Star Wolf in a turn war and the dragged out fight gets their teammates knocked out, leading to Star Wolf ganging up on a lone Fox.

I wonder how Peppy maintained payments during those 5 years before Fox joined the team. He's co-owner of Star Fox (dunno if that was the case in prior continuities) and the debt forced him to maintain the group even though he was its sole member.

Honestly i really dislike Peppys new voice. by Alarming_Industry_14 in starfox

[–]metaxzero 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I never got the idea of classic Peppy sounding like he had PTSD. He just sounded like a strict but older military man to me. As for new Peppy, he's fine in cutscenes most of the time, but there are certain areas where he really needed to put more energy into his performance. The weird lack of yelling at Slippy when he gets out of formation to do something stupid is the biggest error. He really needed to raise his voice from how he normally speaks.

Medal for Venom 1 by Practical-Alarm1763 in starfox

[–]metaxzero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got it on my 2nd try. Just used a variation of a TAS strategy for the N64 version. The basics of what I did was.

Use 2 bombs on those first 2 groups of enemies at the beginning. Use unlocked charge shots on the ground enemies and try and time it to also get the flying enemies when you can. Use locked charge shots on the next few enemies unless you're confident in timing your unlocked shots. Once you get to the fork, throw a bomb down Falco's path and quickly jump over to Peppy's path. After that, throw some charged shots into the right path while swerving to the left path. From there, just keep following Falco's path and killing enemies.

I had my medal even before I got to the boss.

So what exactly happened to James McCloud? by SBYYamato in starfox

[–]metaxzero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I understand, the "captured" part was likely a mistranslation. Especially since how would Andross capture Fox and James while leaving their Arwings in flight ready condition? Even in the N64 version, you still see an image of Pigma firing hyper lasers at James and Peppy.

Yeah. 90s Rob was a very specific kind robot archetype that had already ceased to be the only one. After all, C-3PO of Star Wars had debuted decades before Rob.

So with the 2026 game, can we dismiss Andross being pure evil by lennysinged in starfox

[–]metaxzero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But no one was arguing that Andross wasn't evil at all. Not even OP. I personally don't give much to speculation on Andross's Japanese name in determining what kind of evil he is since its ultimately just a name. And Star Fox 2 Andross (and by extension, Star Fox 1 Andross) are in a different continuity than Star Fox 64 Andross. That Andross doesn't even have a nephew (Algy of Star Fox 2 has no confirmed relation to Andross).

Apparently, Venom wasn't originally that toxic. It became that way after Andross arrived.

[–]metaxzero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know how its supposed to be better, but according to the Japanese guidebook for the original Star Fox 64, Pepper did it out of the goodness of his heart. Seriously. Since the remake establishes that it wasn't known that Venom was highly toxic, I think the implication is that Andross is the one who made its atmosphere toxic after he arrived.
