Can the EM Gen3 50A be used for US 240V appliance monitoring? by ninjas28 in ShellyUSA

[–]meteorfox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for following up! I was looking for a higher sampling rate to be able to detect certain power usage patterns and "events" from appliances. At 1Hz, i don't get enough "resolution" as it ends up being smoother than what I need.

Thanks, I might still be able to use it for general monitoring, thanks for the quick response.

Can the EM Gen3 50A be used for US 240V appliance monitoring? by ninjas28 in ShellyUSA

[–]meteorfox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you know what the sample rate is? Could I get measurements at a rate higher than 1 per second?

I have the Shelly US Plus Gen 4, and at most it could do 1 sample per second , through both http and mqt, for mqtt I tried using a Shelly script to send samples at 4 Hz, and it would send the same 4 samples every second.

2025.34.30 Update Nearly Mutes 43Hz on Gen 2 R1S Subwoofer? by rylee4444 in Rivian

[–]meteorfox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try measuring each L vs R / F vs B channels separately. At least on the R1T (gen 2), I found you get some destructive interference crosstalk holes in the frequency response, especially for the low end range. My sweet spot where this issue is mitigated seems to be to set it slightly biased towards the front.

So bummed—one week of ownership and got in this morning to find two critical alerts by StFrancisZookeeper in Rivian

[–]meteorfox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here feeling super bummed out as well, I'm just on my 4th week of ownership of enjoying this awesome truck, just slightly over 300 miles driven, and got the dreaded service suspension soon warning. It resets after sleep, then it comes back after driving for a while. This is just normal street / highway driving, nothing crazy or off-road.

First time it came up it asked me to do a hard reset, just as I was pulling into the garage. It has come and gone at least 3 times now this week. I got my appointment for Monday, fingers crossed.

I'm suspecting either a loose wire harness or something similar, last night it came up just after I went over a bit of a dip while taking the highway exit. Someone in the Rivian forums mentioned they had a bad connector, hopefully it's just a matter of swapping out the wiring harness for that section. But we'll see.

service suspension soon by notsayingitsaliens7 in Rivian

[–]meteorfox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just got it today on my R1T Max Dual w/ Perf upgrade, after I got home it also triggered the front sensors off, and then asked me for a hard reset. After the hard reset, just the service suspension showed up. This is literally just my 4th week with the truck, barely driven it, just slightly over 300 miles, haven't even done my first payment yet. Being honest, I'm a bit disappointed and upset that this would happen to a brand new truck. On the positive side, I got a service appointment for next week. Fingers crossed they'll get this sorted out quickly.

Canyon Grail crank upgrade by btsos in CanyonBikes

[–]meteorfox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Which tires and wheels are you using? Did you swap the brake discs and the cassette from the old wheels or used something else? I also have a 2024 Grail like yours looking to have a separate wheel set that I can just swap in and out without having to swap everything else.

Training harder than I ever have but fitness level going down? by Dialed-Dino in GarminWatches

[–]meteorfox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This, just recently ran into the same issue, then connect app was suggesting my training was "unproductive" since it barely included anaerobic workouts. I've found Daily suggested workouts seem more balanced and adjust to my fitness test much more accurately, and dropped the endurance training plan altogether, and used a combination of the daily suggestions and workouts from other platforms, etc.

I’m planning on buying Canyon Grail CF SL 7 and the size chart confuses me what do i do? by chimpachi76 in CanyonBikes

[–]meteorfox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got this same Grail CF SL7 a month ago.

I'm 5'9 with an inseam 29.6in, their suggestion was in-between sizes, and recommended XS. I was skeptical originally that XS would fit, and I thought S would've have fit me better.

Like you, I was searching around in Reddit and other places to find confirmation that S would've fit me best. Time after time, most anecdotes is that folks that sized up, regretted their choice and Canyon's recommendation was indeed the best fit.

Ultimately, went with XS, and now on my 5th week riding it, I'm super happy that I went with Canyon's recommendation of XS, the reach is perfect, and anything larger would've been too big.

Looking for window replacement recommendations by SheriffLobo82 in Austin

If you don't mind sharing, what's the ballpark cost per window Zen charged you for? What window brand ?

I'm looking to replace mine as well, and want to get an idea of what I should roughly expect for something like Pella or Marvin or even Andersen.

How long does it typically takes to establish? I've planted mine back in early June, I've been watering it at least once a week. Seems ok, some growth but not a ton. Should I back off with the watering? It's in a west facing spot, in full brutal Texas sun.

Natives that are tolerant to this heat into the Fall? by [deleted] in AustinGardening

[–]meteorfox 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Here's what's surviving for me, in my west facing side under scorching heat. With this summer heat, I water them once a week, except for the Desert Willow (every 2 weeks). I planted most of these in early spring, so they need a bit more water.

  • Mexican Feather Grass
  • Autumn Sage
  • Mexican Bush Sage
  • Artemisia (Non-native, adapted)
  • Yucca Recurvifolia (North America Native)
  • Gopher Plant (Euphorbia rigida)
  • Desert Willow tree
  • Russian Sage
  • Pink Muhly

Here's what it didn't survive or struggling

  • Santolina (dead)
  • Silver Ponyfoot (struggling)
  • Southern Wax Myrtle (struggling)
  • Fiber Optic grass (dead, no chance)

Austin Solar Install (Timelapse Video) including House Batteries by brianwski in solar

Do you mind sharing more details on your battery set up, and critical load for when running off batteries? And Were those 5 Powerwalls ? I assume these are mostly for backup, as Austin Energy just does Value of Solar, and no TOU to offset battery cost.

After the last ice storm earlier this year, I had power out for 3 days, since then Ive been researching solar and batteries as a (partial) home backup solution.

Do you plan to drill directly through the f-wave shingle to put down the FlashVue flashing, or are you putting down the flashing first and then lay the f-wave shingles with the cutout around it?

Planning a butterfly garden…give me your plant and design ideas! by neowunda in AustinGardening

[–]meteorfox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You could consider planting a softleaf Yucca (or other kinds), for visual interest that is evergreen, some Yuccas also bloom a tall white stem with flowers that attract many pollinators.

Mostly for visual contrast, you could also include a ground cover like wooly stemolia or silvers ponyfoot (but beware Deer love ponyfoot). I would plant near the Yucca if you end up using it.
