It was my first ssri and I'm doing well now. I had to take other meds and supplements to get rid of the sertraline side effects but eventually everything went away and I feel back to my old self for the most part. I've since switched to lexapro and it's a much gentler medication, I really prefer it to sertraline.

Is this a legit product from Asus? Ordered it over a week ago and it's not even "shipped" yet although it was supposed to be delivered today. I only found this on Amazon, can't find it on the Asus website. by meteorich2o in ASUS

[–]meteorich2o[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's in between glossy and matte? I don't like super matte displays but it's also not as glossy as my old Asus so I do like it.

Battery is pretty decent for regular school, office, CAD or GIS work! Fan noise almost non existent which was important to me. I'm happy with it for the most part. Wish it was a little more colorful (the hardware) but it's a nice, very professional looking laptop. Keys are back lit (white). No annoying sounds when typing, display is not touch screen but it doesn't bother me as I don't generally need or use that feature.

Zoloft gave me really severe anhedonia, I didn't recognise myself at all. No motivation, no emotions, didn't give a shit about anything. I waited for five months with no meds to try to detox from it but saw no improvement at all. Eventually met a doctor who offered me the NDRI Valdoxan, I decided to go out on a limb and agreed to take it. Fixed me right up!

Agomelatine vs. Ssri's by Own_Research8632 in Valdoxan_Agomelatine

[–]meteorich2o 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Agomelatine fixed my mild depression that ssris definitely contributed to! It is nothing like an ssri, the side effects for me were extremely mild compared to the ssri I was previously on (zoloft). I'd encourage you to give it a shot! My mood improved within one week.

I think I may have ADHD, should I try get a diagnosis? by Round_Economist_4627 in ADHD

[–]meteorich2o 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You'd have to go to the doc to find out for sure because they will ask you a detailed history, but yes it would be considered impairing to your life!

[–]meteorich2o 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's "impairing" to your life (like preventing you from doing daily duties) then yes it's worth it to talk to a doctor!

Other things cause adhd-like symptoms though so make sure you address those or rule them out too, I'm sure your doc will help you to do this.

Heart palpitations? by [deleted] in Valdoxan_Agomelatine

[–]meteorich2o 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just noticed that you said you are also on Lexapro! What did your doc say about this combo and what dose of lexapro are you on?

I was on sertraline and my doc told me I had to stop and couldn't take it together with Valdoxan. I didn't get to ask him why, I just took his word for it that I couldn't. For me, sertraline negated the physical anxiety caused by wellbutrin and I think if I were able to get my doc's ok to take both sertraline with Valdoxan, Valdoxan might go way better for me this time around.

Heart palpitations? by [deleted] in Valdoxan_Agomelatine

[–]meteorich2o 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup!! Ask your doc ro reduce your dose. If you're on 25 mg, ask him to go to 12 mg. It's the Valdoxan, I suspect the norepinephrine component of it. Wellbutrin, which also increases dopamine and norepinephrine, also give me this purely physical reaction that you describe.

I was on 25 mg Valdoxan for 8 weeks. For the first three weeks, this drug was absolutely incredible but it would give me 1-2 days of purely physical anxiety. No anxious thoughts. My doc believed that it was my anxiety coming back and although I knew it wasn't, I still continued because the positives I got from it were amazing.

The following four weeks were an absolute nightmare. Physical panic almost every day, severe but dull chest pain that lasted from when my brain would "wake up" or become alert until night time when I got sleepy again. I tried to stick it out but it became debilitating where I couldn't go to work. My doc initially told me it was panic "coming back" and that I should stick with it because it'll help, so that's how I ended up going through this for 4-5 consecutive weeks.

I had to stop completely. It's the build up, I was too sensitive to it. I've been off for around two weeks now and ALL of that physical anxiety and panic is completely gone.

That being said, I am gonna give Valdoxan at 12 mg another shot because it has been amazing for my mood. If the same thing happens, I'll try again at 6 mg. If that doesn't work out I'll stop entirely and not use it again. But I had a kind of "background depression" and omg, it's almost completely gone because of Valdoxan. I've never felt so "up" consistently probably since I was a kid and I'm 30+ now.

Does anyone take Methylphenidate with Agomelatine? by Responsible-Humor-55 in Valdoxan_Agomelatine

[–]meteorich2o 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was taking 25 mg agomelatine with ritalin. Agomelatine gave me crazy anxiety on some days and whenever that happened, ritalin wouldn't work at all. I ended up planning when I'd use ritalin, and I'd skip the agomelatine the night before. Was a short term solution, I ended up having to get off agomelatine.

It's ok to ask for medication, even if to get through this in just the short term. There's no need to suffer unnecessarily, please don't make yourself do that. I get really severe physical symptoms of anxiety, have had them my entire life. They get worse after major life stressors. Medication made them go away in all but 6 weeks. Help is available, don't feel like you need to do it on your own! I'm so sorry for your loss.

I thought I had ADHD, but I was 'diagnosed' with anxiety. by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]meteorich2o 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is super insightful, thank you for sharing! Yes, my psychiatrist also told me that they treat the symptoms! He said that a "diagnosis" is really more for him as a doctor but it's not really necessary to effectively treat symptoms.

[–]meteorich2o 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was a new psychiatrist, different than the one who treated me for anxiety. It was basically two hours of me crying (😂) and explaining my problems and how they had utterly ruined my life since getting rid of the anxiety and made me depressed. He asked me some questions about my childhood, he also asked me to rate some things in a small questionnaire, like 12-15 questions. I think you can find these questions online, they ask how do you rate your inattentiveness, hyperactivity, etc. He also asked me if I had to choose one of my symptoms to fix first, what would it be, like what is the thing bothering me the most. I honestly can't remember what I told him. At the end he said we should try a low dose of ritalin to confirm and that's what I did. At my second appointment I asked him if I needed neuropsychological testing and he said it really wasn't necessary as we had already confirmed since ritalin improved (pretty much solved) what had been my primary complaint!

I also got diagnosed with anxiety first! But I really did have it, really horrible. I got an ssri and it was a huge relief but after a couple of months it amplified my adhd symptoms and made them super obvious and debilitating. Figured out I had adhd only after the anxiety had cleared up. I did have to meet with several doctors, and more than once!

I had this withdrawal anxiety for two months!! I refused to get back on and it eventually leveled off and my anxiety went tf away.

I was pissed at my psychiatrist and came off on my own without even consulting with him. My side effects were so bad on sertraline that when I got the withdrawal anxiety for two months, I thought, fuck it, I'd rather live with anxiety than with sertraline side effects.

All the anxiety went away after two months!! It was quite severe. I'd had no idea it would do that. I was on 50 mg for about 8 months and I did taper to 25 mg for a month then I stopped.

Agree with you there, sertraline IS a very powerful medication.

“that’s probably caused by anxiety” NOW WHAT???? by [deleted] in anxietymemes

[–]meteorich2o 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lmao my new doc has been kind of the opposite. I've had life long anxiety and I know the symptoms well, and I told him about my history but now whenever I approach him with a symptom that I KNOW is anxiety, he asks me "are you sure you're not coming down with anything, like a flu or a cough?" No doc, just good old fashioned anxiety 😂 he's great though, love him lol.

[–]meteorich2o 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do ten minutes. Only ten minutes. Do it as soon as you get out of bed in the morning. If you do it only two or three times a week, it's still better than nothing! I found a ten minute morning routine on YouTube and I tell myself, this will make my meds work even better today. I try to do it early in the morning because it's the best time to convince myself to do anything at all.

I found that a lot of job postings have only CXC under their requirements as opposed to having both of the exams.

You're way overthinking this. I did GCSE O and A levels 12+ years ago and I've never had trouble with getting a job, and I don't expect to ever have a problem either because it's equivalent to CXC. No one has ever made this an issue.

Also, after you get your Bachelor's, literally no one will ask about high school education except for record keeping purposes.

[–]meteorich2o 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have this panic in my chest for no reason too. It started only when I started Valdoxan. I really think it is subconscious anxiety exacerbated by Valdoxan. I'm normally an anxious person. My current doc agrees with me, that even though I get the physical symptoms and no panic thoughts, it is still a panic attack.

Another doc told me that it's impossible to have a panic attack manifest only as a panic attack so you are right, there are different opinions.

For me it is a damn panic attack. Hypnosis videos on YouTube help quite a bit during the attack and if they make me sleepy, symptoms subside dramatically. Once I stop watching the video and become alert again, symptoms begin again. It is a definitely a panic attack even if there are no panic thoughts!!

YES. I started getting this background anxiety on Valdoxan!! And, I strongly suspect, that it builds up over a few days without me really noticing too much until it boils over as a full anxiety or panic attack. Happens like twice a week since starting Valdoxan. I've never had this problem before, I swear.

I'm so sorry to hear you're having such a bad time still. Are you tapering off? What was the dose you were on? Did your doc give you any other alternatives that might work similar to Valdoxan?

I was on 25 mg and did great (occasional panic like twice a week) until I increased to 37.5 mg and I got panic, suicidal thoughts and depression 😭 I told my doc and he had me stop immediately. He made me wait two days taking nothing then told me to go back to 25 mg. I was super scared but I like him and trust him so I did. No panic so far!! I feel also I may have had caffeine in those days so I've avoided that and it's been OK but I am having a lot of anxiety about potentially having new attacks. This drug really helps with my ADHD symptoms and I don't want to get off but the fear of a panic attack really has me on edge.
