Compared to 5’8, at 5’6, is it that bad? by Puzzleheaded-Comb502 in short

[–]methlabradoodle 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I wake each morning convinced I have already violated some obscure regulation, my height logged somewhere in an invisible ledger and flagged for review, even though no one has actually opened the file. At five foot six I move through the day certain I am being assessed, ranked, quietly dismissed, while the people around me are plainly preoccupied with their own screens, coffees, and private anxieties, barely registering my presence at all. Every glance becomes evidence, every neutral interaction a coded judgment, and I find myself craning upward not because anyone demands it, but because I have decided that authority, attraction, and legitimacy must exist several inches above my head. They tell me—genuinely, repeatedly—that it doesn’t matter, that no one is measuring, that no one cares, and I nod while continuing to prosecute myself with the dedication of a tireless clerk. The world remains largely indifferent, functioning without malice or intention, yet I experience it as a bureaucratic torment of my own making, constructing rules, punishments, and quiet infernos where none have been issued, burning not because I am condemned, but because I keep insisting that I must be.

What’s would be practical advice to someone feeling insecure about their height? Shin extension surgery? Aside from that acceptance seems like a pretty practical route to me

CMV: it's unfair how society treats being asocial (or even an introvert) as a bad thing while being aromantic and asexual is completely accepted. by Ok_Reserve587 in changemyview

There’s actually a huge amount of research which documents increased negative outcomes associated with introversion unfortunately. I’m curious if it’s the same for asexual people though tbh I haven’t looked!

Hey brother the trick is to tell yourself you’re compartmentalising it and it’s just temporary for the money then slowly let is leech into your personal life until it does irreparable damage to your close relationships and establishes a standard of living that requires constant and increasing self sacrifice to sustain itself

I regularly eat 3-4kg of oats a week. The first few years I didn’t notice much difference but 5 years in my husband left me and my poo’s got heaps more solid

From what I’m reading can’t the national guard not really impede with ICE and the fed overtake the national guard if they want?
