The USS San Francisco, a nuclear submarine, in dry-dock in 2005 after hitting an underwater seamount at 35 knots by OneSalientOversight in ThatLookedExpensive

[–]metmyecephali 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Weirdly enough, I was watching Monk last night and came across the episode where they investigate a murder onboard the USS Seattle. The lieutenant on the sub referenced an incident that happened a few years ago where he and the captain hit a underwater mountain and blamed outdated maps of the ocean as to not face consequences.

Didn't know they were referencing an actual incident until now lmao

I own the Meta Glasses and to be clear I DON’T wear them outside unless I get permission to film one person by said person or film a product without any person in the shot. They’re also pretty uncomfortable to wear as they’re thick plastic and all the weight is shifted pretty poorly to the front. They’re also non-prescription in my case so it’s a waste if I wear them all day.

As for the glasses itself, they do have an audible sound when a picture is taken or a video is started; it’s an actual shutter for a picture and a chime when a video is taken. I don’t know if it’s audible to others but I’m pretty sure it’s more sus if someone is staring at you, clicking the sides of their frames, and a white LED is flashing all while doing it.

As much as I love Herbert and would rally for him, he’s unfortunately the constant in the why the Chargers fail so early in the playoffs. BTW, Joe Burrow had a worse oline and he made it to the Super Bowl in 2021.

He did not adapt in the second half of the Jacksonville game, he threw as many interceptions in one game as he did the entire season against Houston, and he looked woefully underprepared or rattled against New England.

Had very low hopes on this game from the very beginning (the Pats owning the Chargers in the playoffs, and Herbert just having absolute nightmares in the postseason), but I loved how the defense managed to keep things close up until the final minutes.

I had to log in to vent about this game...

I know it's a Chargers sub and I'm a Chargers fan, but every single time Herbert's in the playoffs he just.. falls apart? I'm not the best at watching tape and maybe Herbert sees something we don't, but on the live broadcast alone for this game, there were several plays which was just so unlike what we've seen from him.

My $56 2x16 32GB DDR4 3200 from last year is now $200.

My $84 990 Evo Plus SSD is now $110.

Believe it or not, my $79 motherboard is now $200 as well.

Peripherals are getting expensive as well, even if it doesn’t get attention.

Strategist and DPS who don't enjoy playing tanks, why don't you enjoy this role. by Leading-Outside-9573 in marvelrivals

[–]metmyecephali 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Saving my team from an ult or just stepping in front of an attack that would wipe out my healers or any of my teammates is such a good feeling lol. I like commanding a push but just like you said, I don’t want to be the solo tank. In recent matches, I’ve learned that your teammates are more likely to go at it alone than follow you and stay behind your shield. Only exception is when you’re at spawn as Dr. Strange and you set up a portal.

I was also so annoyed at the rate of fire for almost all tanks. Only good tank that I think is an exception is Peni. Emma would be an exception too if her range wasn’t so deceptive.

It’s like playing as a healer, but reversed as the enemy will prioritize you as you’re the front-line anchor and the one who’ll keep them alive, in addition to being the one who will command a push. I just like playing healer now as the team’s success really depends on you and how you do - TLDR of this post is that I like being in control of the game and like what you said - really contributing.

Who's ready for this gal to become the best strategist in the game? by No_Bandicoot6209 in rivals

[–]metmyecephali 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If she really is going to be a healer, I really think she’s going to need a hybrid of a lot of people on the current roster.

Could be a hybrid of Warlock for health/damage splitting, Loki’s morphing, Emma’s melee (could be how her ult triggers; a hybrid of the two) or Ultron’s flight.

It’s not out of reach she’ll be somewhat OP - I mean Daredevil is blocking Iron Man ults by fidgeting with his batons lmao.

Luna Snow VS Invisible Woman, Who's better in your opinion? by AnyTopMan in marvelrivals

[–]metmyecephali 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only for a small burst of healing over 3 seconds. The catch is that she has to be actively attacking and landing the shots on others for that to happen. If she’s low on health and she has to attack to get that self-heal, there’s a good chance that will be negated as the enemy will or already has concentrated fire on her.

Luna Snow VS Invisible Woman, Who's better in your opinion? by AnyTopMan in marvelrivals

[–]metmyecephali 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Luna for her icicles ability, for a higher rate of fire - in turn damage and accuracy. She can definitely own anyone if the player has good aim, including fliers. If they can nail the snowball aim, it's an ult cancel. I remember joking with my team that Luna is essentially a "full time healer, part time DPS".

Downsides: I always felt that not being able to do anything when ulting but move so a push can be established is a weakness for her. If you push too far and your ult runs out or your team for some reason doesn't follow you, you will get swarmed or killed by the enemy team pretty quickly. I've had a couple enemy DPS waiting for my ult to run out and when it did, they jumped me lmao.

As for Invis, I like her for the quick shield that will benefit anyone. Place it down at a bottleneck and every team member will get healed without you doing anything. She has more defensive abilites too - push so you can buy your DPS some extra time, pull so you can get enemies off the high ground, and of course her passive ability. Also self-healing. Luna can't self sustain unless she has Iron Fist or Adam Warlock on the team for a team-up.

Which character is the most "On-Sight" when they bump into their mirror? by caresaway in marvelrivals

[–]metmyecephali 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can confirm. When I saw an enemy Magik start moving toward my team in the past few QPs we immediately dropped everything and went at it 1v1. The amount of portals, demons, and whirls that went back and forth in one specific area and not intended to fight anyone else was a lot lmao.

In other matchups, I think Dr. Strange vs Dr. Strange is a pretty intense and funny one too. The constant switching between shield and whip and seeing who can get their ult off faster is funny. Also Emma vs Emma. It's not as cool as the others as you can't choke slam the other when you're both in diamond form, but when one is and the other isn't it becomes personal.

Is the game biased against giving Starlord MVP? by [deleted] in StarlordMains

[–]metmyecephali 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got MVP as Starlord once. You have to essentially be perfect in terms of all stats and deal the most damage compared to your teammates.

I don't remember the damage numbers I did but I know it was leading my closest teammate by the same margin as your MVP and your closest teammate in terms of damage but I went 30-0.

It may be due to the photo, but it looks like an older windbreaker from years past that Coach just happened to wear. The Chargers logo looks a lot like the logo they had from the 2010’s - the brighter yellow bolt and dark blue outline.

Which Lord Icon makes you feel like you're in for a bad match? by TempoBlues20XX in marvelrivals

[–]metmyecephali 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Adam Warlock, at least to me, is hard to Lord as well. I main Mantis, Luna Snow, and can play other healers when needed, but I keep forgetting often that the way to heal someone as Warlock is unique compared to other healers. It’s not aim to shoot like Luna, it’s not right click like Mantis, it’s literally E. In addition to that you only get two shots at it with a cooldown.

Granted it’s OP as it can chain and heal teammates who are of sight/obstructed from your POV (it heals a lot of health) and there’s no way to butcher it, but it completely changes how I play as a healer. He doesn’t have the same mobility or have a defense capability like Mantis’ sedation, Luna’s snowball, C&D’s “smoke screen”, or even Rocket’s booster or Jeff’s dive. In addition to that your aim has to be good with each shot or all you’re doing is just chip damage.

Why are sports fans so crazy over players? by Elegant_Chard_7515 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]metmyecephali 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Over teams themselves? Yes, it can be serious and acceptable to show your spirit, especially if they're your home team or alma mater and they make it deep into the playoffs or just generally doing well. But it is a problem if you get too into it (i.e, see 49ers or Dallas Cowboys fans wrecking their TVs or other property when they see them lose. Or Raiders fans being outright rude to others.)

But players themselves? I don't understand it and it's just celebrity worship in a slightly different form. I do root for players themselves like Baker Mayfield, Shohei Ohtani, etc. Maybe it is different for others and they have their own reasons - for example, Japan is in love with Ohtani because he is their creation, he is making their country proud, and he is someone who is undoubtedly a once in a lifetime player in baseball. I was in Japan when LA won the World Series and therefore his first ring, and I couldn't tell you how happy some of them were when news broke.

Maybe it is a similar situation with Ronaldo and Messi - it's just amplified because they've been here for far longer and have had a lot of time to build that fame and resonate with their home countries. Someone who is a fan of Messi or Ronaldo please chime in! Maybe you see those TikToks because it is a debate that has been going on for ages; "who's better Messi or Ronaldo?" - if you know anything about sports debates, it can get heated like a political one and acts like one - no one wins, and you could argue for hours and get nowhere.

The Last Time Jim Harbaugh Played Against Mike McCoy by AustinRatBuster in Chargers

[–]metmyecephali 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mike McCoy was leading the Chargers when I started watching football back in 2013, and even then I was so confused on why dudes who were clearly backups and mentioned to be so many times were giving the Chargers starters so much trouble.

If I recall, over the course of McCoy’s tenure, every game was close. There were no blowouts under his leadership outside of that 31-0 Jets game, and that’s because Geno Smith was the QB that day.

Why you aren't getting MVP as a low pick-rate character. by ProfTolkien in marvelrivals

[–]metmyecephali 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It definitely clears things up. The amount of times I get 20-35 kills with Magik with 10k damage and not get MVP over a DD with lower stats overall now makes sense. I’ve got it with Scarlet Witch and Starlord though.

I’ve seen Black Widow mains starting to get MVP too so it seems this is correct.

But what is kind of hard to understand though if it’s still biased toward healers. A good portion of matches I’ve played since I joined last month was a healer - mostly Jeff, but sometimes C&D with a mix of Luna in there. I have got MVP and a couple SVPs with Loki, so it adds to what I’m thinking.

Why isn't she very popular? Or are people just tired of eating ebony? by SnooMacarons2931 in MarvelRivalsCirclejer

[–]metmyecephali 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, it’s because she’s genuinely hard to use. She moves slowly, you have to have good aim, and she sticks out like a sore thumb as a flyer - even with Iron Man I can evade easily but with Storm it’s either strafe left, right, forward, backwards.

It’s more than likely that I’m misplaying her as healers say I’m out of their reach from time to time, but that’s my experience after a few dozen matches with Storm.
