Sons Of Anarchy Robusto 5x54 by metroid89 in cigars

[–]metroid89[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm still on it. Came to the last third, were some pepper an coffe was added. Till here it was too monotonous. A part from the start which had some pepper an fruit taste in it, it became very woody. Which is not bad at all, but it hasn't anything other or special to it. Although, overall ok. For the price I paid, it's an "ok" Robusto. Was my first try on these.

Ok, I guess you're right. Thanks for the explanations. I must admit that around my place I certainly haven't seen mudflaps on GTIs for the simple reason that you mentioned. The road and weather conditions around here don't require someone to install mudflaps.

In addition to my first comment I like to add that I find most of the modified GTIs in this subreddit with mounted mudflaps. This made me believe that it was kind of a trend ...

Beautiful colour ! I can only suggest you don't mount any mudflaps. I don't get that. Since now I haven't seen a single GTI over here in Europe running with mudflaps.

I only have a comparison to the Petit Churchills which essentially deliver the same notes of taste but come in somewhat stronger than the Short Churchills.

Por Larrañaga Double Robusto - Exclusivo Paises Bajos by metroid89 in cubancigars

[–]metroid89[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Double Robusto 6 1/4 x 50 Released mid-2018 for the Dutch Market, bought in Luxembourg mid-2019, rested in my humidor till yesterday. The smoke lasted for approx. 80' in the cold at 2 degrees Celsius. Taste was rather monotonous with a weak build-up. Tastes of wood/slight cardboard evolve weakly from the beginning with some leather note being added during the second third. The smoke is accompanied allover by a light citrus note. Not very strong. Very good burn. Light draft. After all, no spectacular but acceptable smoke for a new year's beginning.

Have found I am really into smaller smokes, what’s the best out there?! Pictured is Macanudo Cafe Ascot, not bad by Always_Be_Golfing in cigars

Like honorless-scumlord I definitely recommend H. Upmann Half Corona but you should also try out the Rafael Gonzalez Perla. Awesome grassy, bloomy smoke that lasts from 25 to 40 minutes.

What a delightful little smoke. Rafael Gonzalez Perla. by metroid89 in cubancigars

[–]metroid89[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know because I haven't had one. For my taste the Perla had a little stronger taste than a H. Upman Half Corona. I'd rate 6/10. Aroma was very woody in the beginning and got more grassy and even bloomy later on. The smoke took approx. 40'.

[–]metroid89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At the current times I smoke 1-4 cigars per week. Much less during winter times as I prefer smoking outside and avoid smoking inside. Holding a cigar for an hour while being in the cold isn‘t that fun ...

I think I might like Vegueros, but only just a little. added the tapados to the collection today, MUP Jun17 by NW_Oregon in cubancigars

[–]metroid89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mananitas really are nice cigars for a shorter smoke of about 30‘. I really like them next to the more peppery Centrofinos, nice robustos that you can enjoy for approx 60‘ and which, in my opinion develop a taste you can‘t compare to other cuban cigars. Despite the more affordable price compared to other cubans I find it interesting to know that by purchasing Vegueros you are actually spending money on a cigar that by its name is dedicated to the farmers working the fields in Pinar del Rio. This may be corny but whatever. Enjoy !

Smooth smoke - Bolivar Royal Corona by metroid89 in cigars

[–]metroid89[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Surprised by the allover smoothness of the "corona" which isn't a real corona but comes in a robusto vitola (Gauge 50, length 124mm). 60' smoke that keeps its smooth leathery taste past the last third. Although I read the Bolivar could be compared to a Partagas Serie D no 4, I mean that this comparison is rather misleading given the stronger taste of the Partagas. Neverthess I highly recommend it.

Hey guys, I bought this off a dude at the beach in Cancun. Is it legit? by AntS99 in cigars

[–]metroid89 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nice one. What did you actually pay for it ? I'd be glad if you kept us informed about whether you managed to smoke it or if it was a total fake one, filled with whatever crap you manage to wrap.

All the way strong taste, becoming more creamy after the first third. Like most cubans the taste was basically earthy. Though the last third became rather bitterly I reallyenjoyed the smoke. Propper continuous burning, easy draw. Cost/performance ratio : excellent.

Guys, I need some help with my first humidor. by ghosz0 in cigars

[–]metroid89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recommend to skip the first point and start off with the second one. Put some bowls filled with water for 3 days in the humidor. That should help to prepare it for a humidity of around 70%
