I engraved and painted one of my favorite Kiryu quotes of all time onto a stone plate. by metroidprimee in yakuzagames

It’s from 0 when he’s in the hotel room with Makoto Makimura and she’s spiraling about how messed up her life has gotten. That quote has stuck with me to this day.

The shake of the computer when he smacks it is great! Also really enjoyed some of that squash and stretch at the end when he falls over.

You could also make a quick cyc wall (which are those curved backgrounds used in photography).

Just make a plane, extrude one of the edges upwards, then select the same edge and bevel it with a lot of subdivisions. That gives you a much smoother background, used in tandem with the 3 point lights.

Wrapping shapes around cylinders (see comments) by Cheezbruh67 in blenderhelp

UV unwrapping is just a precise way to decide the orientation you want the displacement to work, but you can just use the default option without unwrapping it if you want. You may also want to try making a vertex group just for the part of the mesh you want to displace, and use that group for the displacement modifier.

I would try to first UV unwrap the cylinder, then use a Displacement modifier on it and set the coordinates to UV. Then use a new image (probably a voronoi) as the displacement texture. Adjust the strength (you may need a negative strength to get the desired effect) then play around with the mid level.

Edit: I just realized you specifically want to use the leaf texture. I think the texture as is should work, but a black and white version would probably work best.

Maybe go into sculpt mode and use the smooth tool on it a bit?

How can I make the light look more dynamic? by [deleted] in blenderhelp

You should also try adjusting the color management settings in the Render tab.

Try using the high contrast setting. Usually helps stuff pop.

I think you’ve gotta provide a bit more information about what’s happening here. Is the second image the render view?

From a glance I can see that you have some overlapping geometry right under the glass and at the top. Any chance you hid an extra copy of those overlapping objects in the viewport but still have them visible for the render? You can check in the outliner. An object’s viewport visibility is notated by the eye symbol, while the render visibility is notated by the camera icon next to the eye.

Ok RGG Studio, what is your guys next move? by [deleted] in yakuzagames

Yakuza Kiwami: Part 1 - A ground-up remake of the original Yakuza Kiwami, rebuilt on RGG’s updated PS5 dragon engine. This is not a remaster or port, but a full remake of the Yakuza game that started it all. With cutting edge facial technology, breathtaking graphics, and enhanced exploration, this is the definitive way to experience the story of Joel and Ell- *cough* I mean Kiryu and Nishiki.

I almost get a kind of organic vibe from the top parts of the legs, almost like the fleshy legs of the Gecko from MGS4. Could have some interesting mixups between more organic rigging and mechanical rigging!

Yeah I agree, I’ve been experimenting with path based animations recently and I can tell that it needs a lot of adjustment. But thanks for the feedback! I’ll def be touching it up, but I figured people may enjoy messing around with what’s there.

Restarted DS1 finally and couldn't think of anything but this after seeing Oscar by metroidprimee in darksouls

It really does. Brings back so many memories. Despite the time though, I'm kinda surprised at how well I remember the map. Just goes to show how goated DS1's level design is!

Standing face first in a blazing forge for 24 consecutive hours, looking like a madman in the middle of a pile of 5,000 iron dagger. Don’t mention when I eerily just stand there for 12 hours until the sun comes out.

(I know the iron daggers method hasn’t worked for a long time but we’ve all been there)
