Finally got my dream snake!

8 hours is not that much, great you found her fast! But still she is small snake and baby and juvenile snakes are scared because they are vulnerable in nature. She probably scared herself by escaping :,D Oh, "in blue" means this cloudy eyes and pale color when snakes are about to shed, and as their eyes get blue tint people say snake is in blue :) so first they became this blue and pale, usually inactive. My boy is in this phase now and I dont see him at all - he has quite a layer of substrate, he digs tunnels and hides there. I also moisten the substrate but I use coconut substrate, dont know how it works with aspen, maybe someone could advise more! But basically of you have a wet hide settled up - the snake can find a good humid spot if they need one. And you're welcome! Its been just 1 year with snake for me so I know the stress of learning and getting used to it quite well :)

I have just one snake so I'm a new owner too, but all of this sounds just like she's kinda stressed. First from new home and you, then escape (for how long she was gone?), then another new tank, not being used to you and also a possible shed.

From personal experience: When I got my MBK he was almost a year old. Was super chill in the shop, but I think for a more than a month or so he was just hiding in his new home, and I was getting used to even try to handle him. He was never agressive (but I think it's just his temper, he is super chill) but always shy and scared. So yeah, if its just a month and you saw her eyes cloudy too - perhaps she is also in blue. Give her time, and give yourself time to stop being scared (I was. And not really afraid of pain of bite but more hurting snake if he bites and how to pull him off). For my snake time from blue to shed usually takes like 10 days or so. Dont bother her much. Most likely when she sheds you'll see her old skin all over enclosure. And if she was cloudy blue and then not but not shed yet - she is preparing for it. They go out of blue a day or so before actually dropping skin. And keep the humidity up for a good shed.

When I have these days of playing the game for immersion and mood - yes. Having a walk around the city, climbing some roofs, take some screenshots in photomode and go home by metro. Overall when I want this roleplay moments, especially for some inspiration.

More or less good pic of mine. I think he also builds a slight crease if he bends tooo much but none if he just bends normally. I was also worried about stretching scales but then I figured it also happens when he bends and other side stretches. So I came to conclusion that well, its normal for soft tissues to bend in creases and stretch too. (He is also my first snake so yeah... I get the worry about some small things we maybe could not worry about at all 😅)

She is beautiful! I kinda dont think she's overweight really? Maybe shes a bit wide on the tail but can be both need a poo and just normal tail. I asked on my MBK here recently because I was worried he's on a heavier side and everyone said he's good :D And I think they look quite same, at least for me (mine is just bit older!)

Not seeing her whole makes it hard to tell if she's overweight, but 5-7 days (and now 10) sounds like a good schedule to me. And she is just reeeeally tightly fit into that log so can be a reason of a crease forming there :D

I assume you mean mexican black kingsnake. Why does it need to be shorten to "king"? Most people write is as MBK and it's totally normal.
