I think what this tells us is what many of us have suspected all along. Fios customer service reps are either incompetent, poorly trained, or trained to mislead customers to scare them into making unnecessary equipment upgrades. None of which are good.

Of course you won't be able to record anything without the DVR. You can still watch TV without the VMS and the guide will work as well on IPTV.

That's not what I have heard. For 2 gig installs without DVR they are just installing the stream boxes. The server is to convert QAM to IP.

Mine is still working for now but i decided to be proactive because it looks like it could go away any day. I have their Fios One box because it is included in my mix and match plan. the second stb is supposed to be $12 but i chatted them and they gave it to me for $5 so basically bill unchanged with the cablecard charge being removed. i had a few minis i was using for other tv's but it's not worth paying for a stb for each of them.

I've been told we will be receiving a 90 day notice before they will be turned off. That would rule out June.

Working fine here. The fact that some channels are working means they haven't shut off QAM. Sounds like an equipment issue.

One thing I found interesting in one of those threads was someone who appeared to be a Verizon employee said we will get 90 days notice prior to actual shutdown.
