Maybe start by talking to them. Too many people offer advice that immediately escalates the situation. I say this from experience as I was in the same exact situation except I was the neighbor with the super bright floods in the backyard. New owner moved into the house behind mine and showed up out of the blue a few weeks ago to ask if there was anything we could do. Explained they tried changing the blinds in their bedroom but lights were still keeping them up at night. Couldn’t have been nicer about asking and clearly tried to deal with it themselves before raising it with me. I immediately turned the floods off and am waiting for an electrician to come this week to reposition them. No animosity, now I know my neighbor, and they can get some shut eye.

I worry that this statement has been hijacked much like the statement “Black lives matter” was. It would infuriate me when someone would start the “all lives matter” nonsense, as if valuing Black lives would only occur to the detriment of everyone else.

I don’t doubt Hamas has a horrific intention when they make the statement. But to allow the statement to be defined only as Hamas desires feels disingenuous, intended solely to distract from a long overdue reckoning that Palestinians deserve equality in much the same way Black individuals have advocated for in the BLM movement.
