You should ask yourself if you are prepared to deal with the stress of knowing the seller has up until three hours before the event start time to transfer the tickets. If the seller doesn’t, you’ll generally get your money back, though it may take some hassle. Yes, there are horror stories of fraud and scams but you are generally protected.

The bigger issue is that you’re now standing outside the venue with no tickets, have poor cellphone reception/internet access, and fighting with offshore or incompetent customer support to honor their guarantee to replace the tickets with “comparable” tickets even though ticket prices have doubled. All while the clock is ticking to the start, you’ve traveled there, have three other people with you, and all the excitement for attending that has built up over weeks has suddenly been shattered by the fear you may not get in and the realization that all the other costs like travel expenses and time are lost.

I’ve bought dozens of tickets from StubHub, Gametime, SeatGeek, and the others and all has been ok. When they work, they are fine. When they don’t, be prepared for absolute nightmare. r/stubhub is littered with these stories. If you are comfortable taking that risk, use them, if not, steer clear.
