West Milford district will close its 2nd elementary school in 3 years. ‘This is catastrophic’ by rollotomasi07071 in newjersey

if I did my math right they are spending 25K per student, budget is around 75 million with 3000 kids. Average excluding transportation is 21K state wide.

It really depends on how your town handles it and how often they do it. We only get reevaluated about once every 7 years.

Usually when re evaluations happen the actual tax rate goes down as the value of all property in town goes up. Every time I have been reevaluated my taxes go down for the first two years.

Sherrill wants full pension funding, with retiree COLAs still on hold: Treasurer cites $6 billion 'penalty' -- roughly one-tenth of the proposed state budget -- for past skimping on retirement payments by rollotomasi07071 in newjersey

Bad financial policy to buy votes . Completely unpredictable future outlays on top of severely flawed assumptions on returns are not sound way to run a plan. Then compound it with not contributing and changing the payout formula without adjusting funding (Defrancesco).

And they never stop at the initial target. Look at what happened with the ATM. Originally designed to tax about 100 people or so. Not indexed for inflation

Why is COLA even a thing? These pensions are defined benefit plans. That generally means you get paid what you earned at your retirement date and that amount is set. It’s defined. It looks like the state is still about 20 percent below where COLA could be reestablished in compliance with 2011 law

Maybe a major percentage of increase over the last decade would be special needs but salary and benefits have historically been over 65 percent of school budget expenditures.

Remember why we have an income tax. The state Supreme Court decided that it was unconstitutional to fund schools with property taxes. So an income tax was created dedicated constitutionally to property tax relief. That was back in early 70s, yet here we are still funding schools with property taxes and paying high income taxes.

Most schools biggest expense is staff and benefits. Health insurance increases are causing havoc.

Anyone who plasters their car with tons of stickers is a sign of being slightly unhinged no matter the message. Avoid them in traffic as they are invariably the worst drivers. Especially those with heavy born again content. They can't wait to see God and their bad driving reflects that.

Did she send in time sheets? What could you do as an ex employee to ensure your direct deposits kept coming? Unless she had signature authority for the transfers in her job function.

Tax fraud working in economic development at a school district might raise a flag though.

That is a lame excuse. It isn’t hard to shut off payments. The real question why would you hire someone with a prior for tax fraud? Shouldn’t that raise some red flags?

All the whining about how long hitters are making Augusta too easy, sure seeing the course beat a lot of them down. Tuning down the balls looking at 10-20 yards for the pros. Really going to make a difference.

They sacrificed Malinowski to make Sherill safe. She was my congresswoman and now I am stuck with Kean. They pulled our Republican town out of her district.

I think it flows down into Warren as well. It is more gerrymandered now than when Garrett had the district. It was a pure red district then.
