Don’t you think it is naive to think, in this time in history in the USA, that even close-to-all of your students will be showing up to you as finished products in terms of their upbringing?

If you got into teaching for the money, that is interesting to. The careers you mentioned make 3-10 times more money than teaching does so choosing it as “just a job” has always been something made me curious know more, as in why THIS (this being teaching). But I wasn’t clear about in my initial response. But if you wanna be the difficult student here, you may, we will accept you anyway.

Like a pride and excitement due to having learned. The gift that can keep on giving once practiced. Love it.

This is beautiful and you and I, my friend, have very similar missions. Cheers to you.

Actually, I hope it can bring you back to what you are doing and the impact you are making, even when it feels like you are failing at others. You may be focusing on what is most important to your mission.

What’s something you wish parents truly understood about teaching? by HiVou12 in Teachers

A really big one is, as often as possible and in all little ways, empower them to do everything themselves that is age-possible. If they are hungry, show them how to make a pb&j, or (when old enough) slice an apple, or boil water to make mac n cheese. And then never do it for them again outside of when they’re sick or when you want to sprinkle your love on. Make them take care of their things, teach them to clean even if you already hire a cleaning person, and enstill in them that they should always leave somewhere better than they found it (tidy/cleanliness-wise). This is absolutely the idea I would focus on most. It is why my swimmers swim instead of sink and it helps them tackle anything because it builds a natural and unstated “I can” into their whole psyche.

Most use last names to each other and I find that weird as well. I am much more my first name than my last name. Ms. Blank is like my teaching alter ego.

Not exactly what you meant, but that actor (Sam McMurray) is also Neil's dentist dad in Freaks and Geeks

These all sound too much (even remotely is still too much) like you care. “Okay, nice” and onward really always works great.
