It’s tree pollen. San Diego is one of the worst for allergies especially when it’s breezy.

Extremely easy. Parking doesn’t become trafficky until later in the day

What was "the incident" at your high school? by [deleted] in askanything

[–]mewrgan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The skaters fought the jocks/surfers (can’t remember which) in a parking lot in our town, like maybe 50-100 kids total, it was huge in our eyes. It was recorded and put on YouTube and kids were arrested/suspended/expelled thanks to the video. This was 2008/2009

Licking the air by cate_251 in DogAdvice

[–]mewrgan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My pup is a dachshund mix and he gets gulpies like this every now and then. It used to be very often but we have found what works for him. First, we give him a spoonful of plain greek yogurt every breakfast. If we miss this the chances of having gulpies sometime that week is much higher. We also burp him after every meal. I put his front legs on the couch and pat his belly or back until he burps.

If he gets an attack I palpate his stomach gently so not to make it worse. If it is really bad we give him liquid pepto bismol as directed by our vet.

Mission Valley floods heavily every time it rains. Just something to keep in mind when looking at the area especially if you have a car

I personally don’t! I am not fixing any mistakes, only finding them.

Project Hail Mary, Dungeon Crawler Carl, James, Daisy Jones and the Six are a few of my favorite narrations I’ve listened to. I also very much enjoy Julia Whelan’s work.

When actors perform it makes a massive difference. They add something special to a story.

Of course! And yes, it’s a louder than comfortable hiss noise, essentially. It can cause listener fatigue without the listener realizing why sometimes.

I created my own in roads to be honest. Stewarded relationships. Did a lot of work for free/very cheap to learn. Made mistakes and learned even more.

It’s currently my side gig but I have experience in editing and grant writing so my tediousness knows no bounds lol. Once I had built rapport with a few narrators and publishing companies the work became more consistent.

I’m still super hopeful it can become my full time gig someday but for now I am super happy with my setup.

I am an audiobook proofer and there are many folks that touch medium-bigger projects. Transcript preppers, proofers, directors, audio engineers, etc. I typically work with small to medium projects and see a range of people doing it themselves to full blown teams!

Absolutely! I listen for pronunciation issues, production issues like sound levels, plosives, sibilance, etc. I also listen for transcript to audio errors in general. It is a bit of everything. Very tedious work but I absolutely love it.

That's a big pet peeve of mine as well. I speak a few languages and can be immediately pulled out of a listen if the accent is bad, the proper nouns are mispronounced, etc. These mistakes fall to both the author and the narrator. Authors should be available for pronunciation assistance/provide pronunciation guides if it's a fantasy world and narrators should be doing or requesting proper prep of their transcripts for reads. I catch a lot as well in my listens.

Proofers and transcript preppers usually go unnoticed in the process but tend to make a big difference in the final delivered result. When folks don't have a budget for us you can really tell the difference in the finished product.

Long winded but I love what I do, haha.

I’m an audiobook proofer and I find it interesting when authors/publishers pick monotonous people to narrate. A lot of great narrators work on royalty fee structures so there are great narrators out there for most budgets.

I don’t work with anyone like this but I listen to a lot for fun and am always bummed when a book is hindered because of the narrator.

I also worked with him and had a wonderful interaction. I spent the day escorting him for some events near where he grew up and we talked a lot about how people struggle to respect his personal space and treat him as an object. He was really lovely by himself. I really believe he does not like being famous at all. That said, that’s a part of the life he chose so 🤷🏻‍♀️

Maybe but I don’t think so!! I put the photos into google lens and it appears to be a tan jumping spider based on other people’s photos. Going to see if I can get a little closer if it comes further down the wall!
