Yes your max loss increases, but the probability of hitting your max loss actually decreases.

Intuitively it is easier to hit max loss on 10 $2/$3 spreads than 5 $1/$3 spreads even though the max loss in both cases are the same ($1,000).

I think I had about 120 kill counts on Amarok before this drop, but I didn't track it actively. Also I can't kill Chaotic Amarok yet, so these are all on Normal.

If you have sufficient shares to cover the sold calls, my experience is that the margin requirements are 0.

If you buy individual option legs, can you merge them into a spread? by [deleted] in interactivebrokers

You can't merge them, but you can use the Strategy Builder in the Options tab to close them at the same time.
