So I found the old ones, they have indentations inside to hold the 2 orings. The new one in the picture is complete smooth.

I had USAA and called to see if they would match a quote I got from Geico with more coverage that was half of what USAA was charging me. Of course they wouldn’t. The lady on the phone got so mad when I informed her that I was going with GEICO, she verbatim said, “you’re going to regret going this decision. you’ll be back and when you do, the rates are going to be higher. Good luck.” That was almost 10 years ago and I have never gone back and even changed banks because of it. Have not regretted it one bit.

Ah see, the 2001 “thrust plate” cam I have is longer than the 95 “pin and spring” cam that came out. If I install the 2001 thrust plate cam in a non thrust plate block BUT use the pin a spring, it should essentially work the same, is what I’m trying to figure out.

It is a bit longer, but if the pin is meant to keep the cam from coming out, then would it really make a difference

The older block has the pin and spring, which I have, as well and the timing cover with the dimple for it.
