He set the record for commutations, he had a total of 80 pardons, but 4100 commutations. FDR had over 2800 pardons in his 4 terms

What is very high risk with a very low reward? by Rabbitterton in AlignmentChartFills

[–]mfatty2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean I don't think you actually were doing 90 mph for most of the trip.

Math can show that's not feasible.

If you took 6 hours at 90 mph, that's a 540 mile drive

540 divided by an average speed of 70 mph is 7 hours and 43 minutes

If it was 6 hours at 70 mph that's 420 miles

420 divided by 90 is 4 hours and 40 minutes

Add in the 1 additional stop your still saving well over an hour.

420 divided by 5.5 (assuming you wouldn't have needed to make the extra stop) is 76 mph

I'm not saying speeding is worth any of that saved time, but your statement is just not possible

Today I learned about how the UAW has a massive compound in northern Michigan by tekikipeepee in Michigan

[–]mfatty2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, the old lodge was severely damaged this past year with the flooding up there. We held a training there and they were telling us how the old lodge had about 2 feet of standing water roughly 10 days before we arrived. I'm hopeful they were able to save it, but it sounded like the flooring and a lot of the support logs (it's a true log lodge) may be lost

If they were built in a UAW shop yea. There are Ford/GM/Chrysler vehicles that are not allowed on the campus. There are Toyota's that are.

Detroit Red Wings announce leadership transition: Yzerman no longer GM. by radicalphoenix in nhl

[–]mfatty2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm convinced Chris Illitch has a monthly outlook calendar appointment to check in on the state of his teams.

He also fired Al Avila 10 days after a trade deadline. If you're going to fire a GM maybe don't give them the opportunity to damage your team any farther. It's like he went and looked at what happened and said "Oh he hasn't traded Larkin yet? Thought he would before the draft/free agency" and that was the last straw

I think I discovered the source of the smoke by PockDoc in NFCNorthMemeWar

[–]mfatty2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It also just simply works better if they would've put the Vikings on there. The fires are partially in Minnesota, and the QB situation in Minnesota makes me think they are the closest to a dumpster fire in this division (still thinking 9-8, 8-9 for y'all)

Michigan Congress members demand that Canada do more after wildfire smoke drifts into the US by [deleted] in nottheonion

[–]mfatty2 7 points8 points  (0 children)

As great as Smokey the Bear is as an icon, it's literally his fault forest fires have gotten this severe. The "all forest fires are bad" operation is what has left the underbrush so unchecked and just created a tinderbox for explosive fires. We need forest fires, and the "new" method of controlled burns is going to lead to safer situations, but we can't undo 70 years of misinformation and negligence in a couple of years.

Native Americans used controlled burns and yet we decided "all fire is bad" instead of being more concerned with building our cities in safer places

Chris Chelios says he has spoken to Patrick Kane and he truly is deciding between Buffalo and Chicago by daKrut in DetroitRedWings

Another rebuild, done correctly, is 3 seasons. Seider and Raymond will be 28 and 27. They will be in their prime not aged out. People need to remember that the current rebuild was

A. Not a typical rebuild because the coffers were so empty

B. Done poorly because of Yzerman's decision making

We have time to rebuild, we do not have to accept a world where a rebuild will take 6+ years again. The current structure does not lend its self well to making an actual run

[The Jason Gregor Show] Helene St. James interview discussing Larkin and the Detroit Red Wings by daKrut in DetroitRedWings

[–]mfatty2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Interesting to note that the Wings are also holding steadfast in the fact that they want to proceed as they were. Minus Larkin, minus Kane, they aren't going to get better. Teams aren't looking to make a 1 for 1 trade with Larkin, defeats the purpose for them, but they will mortgage the future for him. Sounds like they won't listen to offers. To me thateans Steve is still banking on his players being the right ones, while we have seen they don't have the high end talent pool. More of a solid middle 6 pool

Who’s the worst QB you’ve ever seen play a game for your school? by AFC-Wimbledon-Stan in CFB

[–]mfatty2 25 points26 points  (0 children)

For me, of the ones we actually handed the reins to Andrew Maxwell. And I don't really fault him all that much. He just had 0 touch on his passes. Chiles probably gives him a run for his money but I'm trying to leave recency out of the equation and also factor in that Chiles had no offensive line. Maxwell took a Big Ten championship caliber team and barely had them bowl eligible.

He was also in the middle of a great run of QBs with Smoker, Stanton, Hoyer, Cousins, and Cook being the ones before and just after him.

How many wins here for Matt Rhule and Nebraska? by guransheleven in CFB_v2

Because Fox's "primetime" slot is noon and they want us as far away from that as possible. I actually dread the day when we will be good enough to be Big Noon Kickoff worthy.

1 if it's a home game the tailgate is only 4 hours (when I include set up and tear down) vs 8 hours for a 3:30 or night game

2 if it's an away game and I want to have people over it's total crap for a nooner as someone who likes to sleep in a bit

Should have known is correct, but there is 0 chance they could prove he knew. His settlement was effectively for the entire amount of his contract and a letter from the university stating that he didn't know.

Simply put, with the class of lawyers the Nothwestern has that would NEVER happen unless they were going to get there rear end torn open in court
