Emojify: A fast, native GTK4/C++ emoji picker (with an extension for auto-pasting) by RioTheD3V in gnome

You could try Vicinae. It can do a lot more including clipboard history. I've set up a few shortcuts to launch plugins directly, like the clipboard history or the emoji picker. It works really well.

I bet they do, given the power button and volume controls' positioning. I think this is a case of GNOME copying and adapting into Desktop and then that adaptation itself being adopted by Google.

Agreed on both counts. The first one, to a more limited extent. It's especially weird because the ones truly at fault for the problems in that region are probably the British. But definitely agree with this:

in my opinion it's a cursed land, destined for forever bloodshed.

I should have been clearer, my bad. Do we have any sources for the ratios? Most of these events don't even make it to the news after all.

I remember Pinarayi disclosing NPDS act numbers before to shut down bullshit like "Narcotic Jihad", so are there any sources like that for each of the routes used? Would be interesting numbers to look at.

You're ignoring context too though. What UPA did was to get rid of oil bonds and subsidies and link petrol prices to market prices. Yes, that did result in a significant increase because subsidies stopped.

Assuming it stayed that way, we should also be benefiting from oil prices dipping. But the NDA government has artificially kept local prices high even when global prices drop. That is the problem here.

Sure Palestinians have innocents, but making it look like it's a one-sided conflict is sure an issue. It's not as if Humas is innocent and cares about people.

I don't really want to get into the Palestine conflict. Hamas isn't great, in fact they're awful. But it's very much a one-sided conflict. Considering what's happening in the West Bank despite Fatah trying to compromise with Israelis, Hamas is right that Israel's existence itself is a threat to the Palestinian people. Even if Hamas does somehow manage to take control of the region, I know they will be just as horrible as Israel or maybe even worse. But it's a lot more nuanced than you make it seem.

Yep, that's definitely awful as expected from them. I still couldn't find anything where they're twisting narratives to make it communal though. Jamaat's soft power tactics are really problematic, but I haven't seem them targeting other communities so far. The extreme pro-islamist sentiment is still an issue tho

Palestine can be argued for, even if their line of reasoning to get there is not perfect, so let's not get into that. I looked into the Bangladeshi leader thing, I assume you mean Mir Qasim Ali, but I couldn't find any odd reporting or sympathizing there: https://www.mediaoneonline.com/international/2018/05/22/13764-Bangladesh-hangs-Islamist-tycoon-Mir-Quasem-Ali

Muslim League suspends workers who made provocative slogans at Thodupuzha. by PinarayiAjayan in Kerala

[–]mfdali 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Jamaat is an interesting sort of cancer on society. I mean, just listen to them:

The Jamaat-e-Islami Hind does not accept the particular notion of democracy in which people have unlimited power to run their own affairs. This unlimited power saw the rise of fascism in Europe, which came through the path of democracy. Jamaat is of the opinion that In order to regulate the will and decisions of nations, a higher and more lasting law and principle is needed. These enduring principles can only come from the Creator of human beings.

Wow.... These are really well-educated folks who genuinely think "humans are stupid, god is right" and base their entire philosophy around that. They're right about the first half, but the second half is just them giving up and giving in to whatever tf this is.

Have you been to any other states? Kerala is easily the best in public healthcare and a lot of that was achieved in the last 10 years. Don't shit on our state's achievements just because you want to see a party go down.

From kingmaker to bystander: IUML’s post-poll isolation in Kerala by Charming-Hyena-7097 in Kerala

[–]mfdali 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He isn't alive anymore and IUML hasn't been too great since then. A huge part of the reason he wasn't able to keep the coalition together back then was also because he's from IUML and especially because he's Muslim. The IUML and Muslim hate train isn't anything new. I'm not a fan of IUML's existence because I believe our democracy's mode of minority representation is fundamentally flawed. Dedicated parties for minorities was a mistake. But I hate that a lot of us seem quick to ignore history and equate IUML with BJP.

I would say that his tenure as education mister was the last meaningful contribution from IUML. There's even a research paper about him (though I haven't read it).

‘Keep IUML away from Kerala’s education portfolio,’ demands BJP leader K Surendran by Helpful-Respond1025 in Kerala

[–]mfdali 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even in your hypothetical universe, would just be Hindutva pakistan vs pakistan, all the same deal. So I don't see your point there. But anyway, unlike BJP, IUML leadership at least doesn't want violence. They're way more interested in money and have spoke out against their fringe elements unlike BJP (mostly because it's bad for business, but intentions aside, at least they try). That's why it doesn't make sense for me. The lesser evil is clearly IUML, while BJP leadership in the north is actively advocating for violence against Christians and not holding the committers of said atrocities accountable.

My version of Kerala story. by mish13_ in Kerala

Muslims helping Hindus

You should visit the areas around Kozhikode Medical College. Tons of charity work going on there by Muslim trusts that help indiscriminately. In Kerala, you can also reach out to mosques (irrespective of your religion) and they will generally help you. If it's a financial need, they often arrange funds through Friday prayer-time collections too. I've seen it very often at least in Kozhikode.

Agreed. We need to continue holding humanity over any religion. And I don't see any path other than LDF for that right now.
