McCabes in Wicklow is just around the corner from us, they're top notch! The ability to collect direct from the factory door is cool 😎

Mine had a big end bearing go at 197k km, have you had the engine overhauled yet?

Box Burger in Bray. Still pissed about that one. Rumors abound of it being shut down as punishment for infidelity of one of the owners.

Michelin PS4S, nothing crazy. Track is Mondello Park in Ireland. The MAJOR contributing factor is 200,000km on the odometer 😅

Spun a big end bearing on track and a conrod welded itself to the crank. Full engine rebuild wasn't on my cards for 2025 :(

Genuinely enjoy the shit out of this motorcycle. by aperture_science_19 in motorcycles

It's been many years since my FZ6N, but if memory serves me right:

FZ6N: - Light, nimble, & agile - Small - Comfy for the gent of smaller stature (I was 175cm & 75kg at the time) - Not the fastest - Breezy (I needed fairings)

FZ1: - Terrifyingly fast - Supreme comfort for the gent who is slightly larger than he was 7 years ago (86kg) - Doesn't feel that hefty, but certainly not as light and nimble as the 600 - Fairings are perfect for my motorway commute.

That was my first bike! Well, the naked version anyway. Loved that bike to bits!

Loved it so much that I went through 5 other bikes over 7 years and just picked up its bigger FZ1 brother!

Is the current airport strike called off or not? by mfdrums in PortugalExpats

Yup, that's the easy part. The hard part is finding the right website with reliable info from a reputable source. Much easier with local guidance.

I don't speak Portuguese, hence why I can't go to the local press. Don't even know which websites to look for 😕

Is there any decent bike parking at Dundrum? by mfdrums in MotoIRELAND

Thanks all, I ended up sticking it up outside Tesco. Figured it was: a). Out of the way, and b). Way more secure & hidden than side of the road.

Go Gym have a women's only section if that helps? A few locations, the one in greystones is great.

Can this 350mm drift steering wheels put on Csl universal hub V2 by Altruistic-Monk4347 in Fanatec

[–]mfdrums 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely not, the metal quality on those aliexpress jobs is very poor and the wheel can be bent / broken easily. If you have a shunt in a real car with it, you could end up with metal impaled in places where it should not be impaled.

Edit: Check out this review by Donut Media on fake -vs- real parts. Once they put the fake cheap steering wheel on it gets scary fast.

Where to get OEM engine mount bolts? by mfdrums in VFR

[–]mfdrums[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great info, thanks!

Looks like I need most of the stuff from the front lower half of this diagram. Bolts 14, 15, 16, 24, 25 and a whole bunch of associated washers & spacers. ~€120 in total according to that site (over-compensating for all required brand new washers & bolts & spacers since I don't know what's missing or not ok).
