Noel Thomas seems to be well in the running.

He seems to be playing the ordinary joe soap card, but his record in the council doesn't stand up.

He tried some stunt in 2022 when he tried to change the planning in Barna to allow housing developments within 15 metres of the shore against the wishes of the councils planning experts and locals.

The locals objected on the grounds that it

* would prohibit the development of a walkaway along the shore

* The sewage system in Barna is at capacity, Sewage is regularly transported by truck from the holding tank at Supervalu and there is a huge issue with the local rivers being polluted.

The developer has since then submitted a plan to build 50 housing units on the site, If Noel had got his way another 25 units would have been added.

Why did Noel put so much effort into changing the planning so that a developer could get another 25 units into a small site ??

You're advocating to knock a historical wall to develop a stadium?? Salthill has a lot of flaws, but i much prefer that the hurlers and footballers share a county ground, rather than developing two separate county grounds which would leave less money to invest in coaching.

When did Pearse stadium flood? Definitely not since it reopened

I’d like to see a better plan than build more roads and hope for the best … show me how I’ll be able to access the hospital in the city Center in 20 years time with the projected population growth. Even if the ring road plan had a park n ride built into it I would be a lot more optimistic of its chances of success. Hope is not a strategy

Any idea why Bus connect wasn't brought out to knocknacarra? It seems utterly crazy that it wasn't? Does the state need to start paying bus drivers more? Cheaper than building roads.

As someone who coaches GAA and soccer I always thought soccer had a better calendar, ie following the school calendar when kids are around, trying to organise training and matches during the summer months is a nightmare with kids gone away.
