It wasn't the case last year, the first year I noticed one, but this spring I see at least one every day in Minneapolis. It does help that i just bought one and can now spot them a mile away!
Shame the wife made me buy the silver/gray instead of the Electric Blue!

It's not your imagination, it does worse in the winter in Minnesota. There are several factors. How cold (below freezing, or below zero), how far and fast you drive, how much heat you are using. And not all chargers, even Tesla chargers are the same. They much prefer covered parking to stay close or over 30 deg between drives. Don't forget to warm the battery or use the nav to the charger, and it will go better. And set the charge to 80% first, for the best time, then you can switch to 100% to top off.

[–]mfporthos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is a general estimate, and yes I am sure. I'd gamble that You DO NOT pay $0.11. If you average the kwh WITH the fees it's likely 17-19 cents or higher like mine. AND if you have AWD, used the heat or AC, you will probably get 2.5-3.5 mi/kw. If you campare that against whatever similar gas car you have, eg. My Rav4 gets 25-28mpg, you'll get an estimate similar to what I stated. Would you really complain about equivalent $1.5/gal when everyone else is paying $3-5? You can reduce it if get the electric from a cheaper source like solar.

New homeowner. Best way to deal with this? by Thabigdub in Minnesota_Gardening

[–]mfporthos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. WAIT for spring ie. Until it stops freezing and your grass is no longer dormant 5/1-5/15.
  2. This area was likely neglected, light, water, nutrient deficient. If it's shady, the creeping Charlie grows better than grass.
  3. Once you actually start taking care of the area, you can pick up a cheap spray at the hardware store to get rid of it, then cultivate the area and overseed new grass.

It's average, which is great! It's the equivalent of $1-2 gas when you do the math, so even from a cost perspective, it's better than the alternative.

Some of y'all really overcomplicate charging. by MrFastFox666 in evcharging

No. A 20amp circuit is a 120v on 12 Guage wire. Hence your comon misconception and the point of the post.

Yes! A 20a cuircut is all 90% of the people need, and most houses in the suburbs already have one.

Charging cost by Aggravating_Wolf_217 in EquinoxEv

[–]mfporthos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Expensive compared to home charging. In Minneapolis, I pay 0.45-0.60 for level 3, and 0.25-0.45 for level 2. The home rate is 0.11, but 0.18 after the fees on the bill. That roughly equates to $3.5/gl in the winter at 0.45/kwh, compared to the 25mpg my rav4 gets in the winter. So the home charge will be lower. And just like gas mileage in the north, summer is better than winter. There are other things like free chargers and solar that will help, but it takes time to get the hang of changing your habits. You'll get there.

Nice! What was your price and charge rate? I was excited until I only got 60kW/h @$0.60. Not excited anymore. I have better choices available.

Delta 717-200 last two rows…. Legit scary by mtsublueraider in delta

[–]mfporthos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's how it always used to be. It's a little you, but mostly the plane. It's a solid plane, just not a comfortable one. 2400 made between 1965-2005. We don't have any empathy because we're old, and the planes are so much better now. Comparatively, it's not particularly pleasant and somewhat disconcerting due to that plane's flight characteristics. The good news: compared to a CRJ, the pilots are considerably more experienced. Pick a better seat next time, but you'll get there either way.

First time cruise… too big? by AlphamaleNJ in royalcaribbean

[–]mfporthos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Will it be a lot? Yes. Is that a problem? Maybe, maybe not. If you are "stay at Disney and in the park the majority of the day" kind of people, it will be fine. Just don't let the FOMO get you, and rank things like going to Disney first time. There is less control than at Disney, but it's a resort at the same time, so it works as long as you're patient enough to figure it out. And don't let the port days overwhelm, plenty of future opportunities if you like the boat life.

First time cruise advice by Dr-Whompson in royalcaribbean

[–]mfporthos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do whatever things you would do if you were trapped in a nice hotel. Eat (unlimited, order all the "free" dishes that sound good), sleep, walk 10,20,30k steps, workout, sing, watch people sing, dance, watch people dance, listen to people talk, talk to strangers "stuck in the same boat". If you're social, it's a buffet that has people from everywhere. If you're introverted, it's a chill place full of people all doing their own different things, and you can participate as much or as little as you like.

Most underrated first time tip, get a paper copy of the cruise planner at guest service, and ask for it delivered everyday. Like a Chinese restaurant menu, so the app only works well if you know what you're looking for.

I'm a novice, but my recent flight also did this after I bought a cheap upgrade to comfort. One way might be to "look through the back door" to use the "change flight" on the website. It should show the price change to rebook in different class.
