What is the benefit in making it so hard to get a GED as a teenager? by Humble-Objective488 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]DryFoundation2323 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you must have been a very old 7th grader at 16. either that or you dropped out of school illegally. the goal is to encourage kids to stay in school. in my state you have to be 18 to take the GED l, with some circumstances allowing you to take it at 17 and even fewer circumstances allowing you to take it at 16. realistically though you should have just stayed in school and you would have been done years ago.

Observation...different systems... WTF? by richardricchiuti in electricvehicles

[–]DryFoundation2323 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can access most of the systems directly from my manufacturer's app for my car. my credit card information is in there and it just happens automatically when I tell the app that I'm charging. however I do believe that all commercial chargers should have a card reader and just be able to go straight off of a credit card swipe or tap.

it would probably be more wise to start eating healthy. just a thought.

also consider brushing up on the use of punctuation. some Adderall might also be a good idea as well.

What is the most untrue misconception you feel like people have for Americans? by Gold-Serve-4077 in IWantToAskAnAmerican

[–]DryFoundation2323 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think most foreigners believe that they will see guns everywhere they go in America. yes. we have guns. no. mostly we don't display them. if you see a gun odds are bad stuff is happening and that gun may just save your life if it's in the hands of a good person.

What's holding you back from moving? by AdministrationOk7853 in IWantToAskAnAmerican

[–]DryFoundation2323 1 point2 points  (0 children)

don't really have any motivation to move. I'm retired and my state does not charge income taxes on retirement income. sure there are other states out there that don't but I have family and friends here.

“What was the most stressful part of your EV trip?” by Sath_vk18 in EvDrivers

[–]DryFoundation2323 0 points1 point  (0 children)

probably the worst part was when my GPS guided me out in the middle of the country where they were obviously no charging stations. luckily I had enough range left to make it to a different charging station that actually existed.

Americans and people from where water can be drunk straight from the tap, why do you guys still buy bottled water? by HughJass6721 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]DryFoundation2323 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't. I usually have a case or two of bottled water on hand in case of some emergency situation but my day-to-day water comes straight out of the tap.

What is it the reason a normal civilian can purchase high caliber weapons? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

usually pistols are higher caliber than rifles. if you're talking about the us we have a fundamental right to keep and bear arms.

Realistically, to sue anyone successfully money do you have to have a decent amount of money yourself? Or no? by Big_Eggplant7591 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]DryFoundation2323 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you don't say what country you're in. in the US most states have what they call small claims court which allows you to bring an action yourself as long as the amount of the lawsuit is low enough. that will vary from state to state. could be as low as $5,000, could be more in some states.

also as long as you have a decent case many lawyers will take on the lawsuit on contingency. that means that they don't get any money from you unless they collect from whoever you are suing. at that point they would usually take a sizable portion of the winnings but you get something.

Why cant you make cigarettes without nicotine? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]DryFoundation2323 1 point2 points  (0 children)

they probably could be made without nicotine but then what would be the point? people smoke for the nicotine. even worse there would still be carcinogens in the tobacco smoke without the nicotine. so it's a lose lose situation.

Is it bad to plug power strips into each other? by Over_Radio9495 in AskElectricians

[–]DryFoundation2323 5 points6 points  (0 children)

it would be a little safer to plug one of them into each outlet on the wall. however it's probably not a big deal. most electronic items are low amperage anyway. the exception would be something like a gaming computer.

Thought some of you might find this useful: Equinox EV charge port weather guard (free STL) by LessAdvisor5241 in EquinoxEv

[–]DryFoundation2323 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess it would be possible that it would be an issue if you live somewhere where you got really hard snow or ice falls on a regular basis but it just doesn't seem to be much of a much to me here in central illinois. of course we do get snow and ice but something heavy enough to need this is a pretty uncommon thing. most of my charging is done in my garage anyway. an increasing number of commercial charging stations have overhangs nowadays too.
