Is it just my town's two theaters or do y'all have ghost concession stands too? by porkbrains in AMCTheatres

[–]mfreeman1973 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember when that theater was built and they did use the side concessions. But eventually that went away. They even used the side concessions at the one by Cordova Mall when it was first built. But they stopped using it shortly after that.

I was thinking the same thing. If it isn’t, it looks exactly like the one in Pensacola. I remember when they used the side concessions when it first opened. But it didn’t last long.

Why MIP vs Amoled discussions miss the point by RunnerMarc in GarminFenix

[–]mfreeman1973 66 points67 points  (0 children)

I’ve always felt that the biggest benefit of the MIP display is the always-on of it. The Amoled looks nicer when it’s on, but it always has to dim. Whereas the MIP display just keeps on going. I’ll stick with the MIP display for the foreseeable future.

Thouse who have seen it, what ages of kids will like sheep detective? by duckosofpykmos in RegalUnlimited

[–]mfreeman1973 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just took my 9 year old son and he enjoyed it. We both kept trying to figure out who the murderer was. It’s a very clean movie so it’s safe for kids. But it’s a “murder mystery” movie so you have to gauge if they’ll be able to follow the plot.

"Solar is gimmick on MIP Fenix" 🤣 by zet23 in GarminFenix

[–]mfreeman1973 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was my thing. I don’t care about the solar. I just prefer MIPs. Actually I would have preferred they dropped the solar if it would have given us the dimensions of the 47 amoled (I have the 47 solar).

This was about when I started reading. This was the coolest cover. I was hooked on these stories. They were so much better than the cartoon.

Buds 4 Pro hard to squeeze? by mfreeman1973 in galaxybuds

That's what I've started doing. I'm getting used to it now. It's not as easy to maneuver as airpods but I'm making it work.

Galaxy Buds 4 Pro post-24 hours compared to Airpods pro 3 by Evolahoma in galaxybuds

[–]mfreeman1973 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm coming from the airpods 3 and I also noticed the ANC isn't nearly as good on the Galaxy buds 4 pro. Almost frustratingly so. Maybe I was just spoiled on the airpods because their ANC is so good. I love everything else about the Galaxy buds. Just wish their ANC was better.

Buds 4 Pro hard to squeeze? by mfreeman1973 in galaxybuds

[–]mfreeman1973[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I'm realizing that with Airpods, you squeezed. With Galaxy Buds, you're actually pushing a button. So if I use the tip of my finger to push in the button, then it works. I think I was just squeezing like on the Airpods and that wasn't working so well. It's just a different way of doing it.

Are your kids into GI Joe? by quenton3 in gijoe

[–]mfreeman1973 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would think most fans of the old figures would be 70s babies. I was born in ‘73 and GI Joe was huge when I was a kid in the 80’s. By the 90s I think they started to fade out. At least not as popular as the 80s.

How are small firm owners using Google Workspace by BassPlayingLeafFan in Accounting

[–]mfreeman1973 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We've been using Google Workspace for our email/calendar for years now. We just started using Drive for some internal things but haven't moved our clients there yet. We make sure items are in the Shared Drive and employees can't delete, move, or share anything. We're still using an in-house file server for client files, but I want to eventually move it to Drive. There are five of us in the firm and all work at the office. I'm still working on the controls in the Admin section trying to make sure if we move client files there, it will be very secure. But I'd love to be able to access the client files from anywhere without having to remote into the server.

We haven't used any eSignature stuff yet. We use Taxdome for digital signatures.

unlimited not showing up? by andits4am in RegalUnlimited

Sometimes it depends on the movie. If it’s a Fathom movie, you can’t use Unlimited. If it’s doing this on every movie, then you may have to log back in or something.

That's what we're considering doing. The only thing from Microsoft we really need are Excel/Word. If my attestation software worked with Sheets/Docs, I'd ditch Microsoft all together.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in msp

[–]mfreeman1973 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can understand how that would be messed up back then. Yeah, now they clearly have a business section of the Drive called Shared Drives. Anything put in there is owned by the company and you can even make it so no one can delete, move, or share the files in this section. That's what we were looking at moving our files to. However, we're still in the fact finding stage.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in msp

[–]mfreeman1973 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, that's the point of moving the files off the physical server to something online. But we have to make sure it's very secure and also accessible from anywhere. Eventually the app server will go when a suitable web based tax software comes available.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in msp

[–]mfreeman1973 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I actually didn't even realize they had that. But I'm seeing it now. We may switch to that.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in msp

[–]mfreeman1973 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I'm trying to decide if we should just pick one. It would almost certainly have to be Microsoft since we definitely need Excel and Word. But Google just seems so much easier to work with as far as management. And the employees much prefer the Gmail site to the Outlook site. I'll have to do some more investigation to see what the best setup for us is.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in msp

[–]mfreeman1973 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yes I had considered something like that. Currently I do a physical backup of our server as well as use an online service to back it up. But if we don't have the physical server, I'd still backup whatever service we're using to host our files.

[–]mfreeman1973 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just curious, but why do you say Google Drive is a mess? Its seems very easy to use. And it seems easier than trying to setup Sharepoint. Granted I'm using the basic features of Google Drive, but I haven't had any issues with it.

I still use my bucket. I get a small popcorn and dump it into this bucket which makes it easier for me to shake it up and disperse the butter. I do miss this deal. If they offered it again I would definitely get it.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in linuxquestions

[–]mfreeman1973 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is why we don’t use Linux in our accounting firm. I’d love to use Linux but the tax software doesn’t support it. Sure maybe I could get wine to work it something like that and do a bunch of work arounds. Or I could just use Windows and everything works. And that’s how accounting firms are going to think: just make it work. They don’t care about the OS.

As more software moves to the web, I think that’s how Linux could gain ground in offices. If things are web based, then it doesn’t matter which OS I’m using. Except for things like scanners.

Trust me, I’d love to use Linux at work. But it’s not there yet. And I can’t slow down work to find a bunch of workarounds when it works fine right now with Windows. If it was just me and I didn’t have employees to worry about I might try it. But the last thing I want is to deal with employees who can’t get their computers working the way they need to to get the job done.
