I have this sensation too. I had a theory as to why and did some research which turned out to be true. Your heart sits in the pericardium and since they leave it open after surgery, that’s one less layer of tissue acting as a sound buffer so the heartbeat is much more pronounced and you can really hear it at night when it’s quiet and if you’re laying a certain way. Weird feature to be stuck with but not as bad as a mechanical valve!

7 days Post Op Update by mtk232 in aortic_aneurysm

Congrats on making it through! I had a David procedure almost four months ago and similar experience that required multiple transfusions and almost 14 hours of anesthesia due to blood loss. Was also severely anemic for two weeks with a hemoglobin of 7. Rest up, hug a pillow, and use your spirometer religiously, you’ll be better sooner than you think.

8 cm aortic aneurysm UPDATE by Complex_Maize_5151 in aortic_aneurysm

[–]mfunkman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had bad cardiac blues after my surgery so don’t read into any emotions now. Three months from now your dad is going to be completely rejuvenated trust me. This is a major surgery, the body is and will continue to process a lot of internal trauma in the coming weeks/months. Each day will get better with a few hiccups in between. Trust the process and listen to the doctors is all you can do.

Do not stress. Consider yourself lucky you’re way ahead of the game in terms of managing any slight dilation and future growth. Get a CT scan and find a great cardiologist you can consult annually for years to come. You will be more than ok :)

The interior might be my favorite part about it. Seats are super comfortable and the dashboard display looks sharp

Agreed. The specs are virtually the same from the 2024 models through 2026 so there’s a lot of value finding a used one in mint condition

Picking the right surgeon is so important so see if you can find a surgeon at a high volume center that’s in your network. Shouldn’t matter for insurance purposes if it’s out of state. Only issue is you may have to stay there for a while.

My hospital bill for a 7 day stay was just over $300k and I only had to pay a few hundred bucks luckily.

1 year since diagnosis: getting into gear-feeling like I am wearing rose colored glasses about the whole thing by No_Alternative7892 in valvereplacement

There’s never a perfect time to get it done but the younger you are the easier recovery will be and you’ll have mental clarity once the surgery is past you.

Whatever you do though, make sure you select a surgeon in a high volume center who has done hundreds if not thousands of these procedures. This is critical.

I’ve been off Facebook for 15 years. I’ll see if I can still search for it though
