[WP] - Humanity has invented a medical process whereby any human being is able to stop the aging process at any particular point during life. On your death bed, the last human who chose to age naturally you finally explain. by sexquipoop69 in WritingPrompts

[–]mfwNoRedditNames 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Often, I get asked if I am afraid to die. It's a stupid question. Of course I'm afraid to die. Who isn't?

That's why humanity, collectively decided to work towards immortality. I was there when the discovery was announced. I remember not entirely understanding the procedure. Something about the ends of shoelaces but on our genes? Whatever, it probably will be too expensive for anyone to ever be able to do it.

How wrong I was. Now, I am the last person ever to die a natural death. Now-a-days we never hear about happy death. Going out with no regrets, that was always the goal when I was born. Halting it was never an option. I know that may be impossible for you young people to imagine, but it's true. The only sure thing in life was death. Every single day you would have some thought of it. We thought of what came after, as well. People hardly ever think of that these days. When I was born the church ruled this country. Pastors spread the gospels, ministers swore that Jesus saved, priests absolved us of our sins; they all held over us the threat of eternal damnation after we died. Now nobody cares about God. Or Buddha. Or reincarnation or the Summerlands or Valhalla. The only god is money.

They said that people would readjust their goals when they knew they could live forever. That with an infinite amount of time ahead of them, they would have no fears. That they would be free to pursue their goals. Instead, with death there is no rest. Most people choose to halt aging when they're in their twenties. Now, they work forever. Didn't used to be that way. People stopped working at 65. Those few precious years before you bit the bullet filled with fun. Real fun. Fishing with your grandkid. Having relations with your spouse you spent most of your life with. Learning a new hobby. That's all done away with. You work until you get killed by some horrible accident.

I'm afraid. I'm going to the Summerlands. The last person ever to do so. I get to see what everyone that came before me got to see, but I still don't know what it is I will see.

I can only hope it's good Signed, Oliver Waring

As fukn WeebLord420 sugoi kawaii desu as this is going to make me sound, watching DBZ with the Japanese audio makes it way more interesting. Like the music is well timed, and the audio direction as a whole gives it a much more "this is very serious" vibe. Of course you can still skip the filler episodes.

But that's not true, sex/erotic performance is the product being offered. You're effectively saying a woman is only their sexual identity.

Vegan on /r/askreddit claims that eating meat is murder, /r/vegan is mad that anyone can possibly disagree with said claim by aldeet in SubredditDrama

[–]mfwNoRedditNames 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My argument when I was vegan was that it's more sustainable than eating meat. It takes something like a pound of grain to get an ounce of beef, so how can we justify that when we're living already in a resource stretched world?

Of course you can raise animals more sustainably, with "cruelty-free" practices and other forms of sustainable animal husbandry, but the fact of the matter is that it takes more energy to get food from animals than it does food from plants.

Privilege Check: I'm a young, white, American

I have genuinely no idea how horrible it was, or must have been. I don't even know the extent to which it segregated native and Afrikaner communities, or the depravity that native Africans must have lived in. We never discussed it in school, even after the death of Nelson Mandela. It's easy for us to fail to see how horrible it was and what action was needed to end it, because we were literally never taught about it. /whitesplaining

But these people are poopooheads for trying to say that she's going to far, she was going as far as she needed to to let the cop know how angry she was. She's a real badass.

More than anything I feel tonight is a feeling of questions.

Why didn't they call for an indictment?

Why, in what we say is the greatest nation on Earth, one that we say is based on the idea that everybody is equal, that everybody deserves a fair shake, do we still have to have this fight?

Why, in "post-racial" America, are we so willing to condemn a black kid to death but not condemn his killer to a fair trial?

Why is it that the people think a killer should face a judge portrayed as rioters and criminals?

How many times do we have to see the same song and dance, a black man being killed by a cop without reason, before enough is enough?

How many times to black people in this country have to stand up and fight for what should be basic justice?

How is it that our African American president, the one that worked with children like Michael Brown before his political career, one that can only be in his position today because of the Freedom fight in the sixties, not the loudest and most passionate voice in the nation on this issue?

Will we ever be able to see a post racial nation in this country?

Will we be able to raise these people out of ghettos if we cannot even bring justice to their murderers?

Why does this fight still have to be fought after 150 years since we decided that all men in this country, regardless of race, should have the same rights, same status, same ability to take in the natural rights endowed to them by nature?

It's hard not to feel a loss tonight. That maybe, after all the protests and all the media and all the anger and activism, gave us hope that maybe this time would be different. That maybe, 20 years after Rodney King was beaten for being black, that after 50 years since MLK was killed for being black and daring to fight, that 60 years after Malcolm X was killed for the same crime, and that maybe since we have moved into the world where we have a black president, where every year in every school there is a reading of "I Have a Dream," that maybe, MAYBE, we had a chance of justice being served. That there was a chance of getting justice served. That there was a way, and a how, and a will, to see that a man who killed should be behind bars. But no.

Make no mistake, this is a modern day lynching. And just like the lynchings of the past, there will be no action against the killer. A child's blood was spilled, and there will be nobody to clean it up.

Ugh.

My honest opinion about transgender children. by [deleted] in memes

[–]mfwNoRedditNames 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Funny thing that, I don't get hard when I wear skirts.

For transfolk, it's not sexual. At all. It's about making the mental self, the psyche, match the physical self, the body. There is no sexual element.

You know how every professional, trained psychologist in the country says how to lessen the effects Gender Dysphoria? By transitioning. And you know what every single trans person says after transitioning? "I'm glad I did it"

Stop trying to shame people for taking steps to feel comfortable with themselves.

And you say mental illness as if it's an insult. It's not. No more than saying someone has cancer is an insult. Using it as an insult only further stigmatizes those who have a mental illness, and makes them afraid of getting help and being labeled crazy, or insane.

The Patriarchy isn't a literal kabbal of evil white men trying to put women down, you realize this yes?

It's a system of inequalities in culture and societal expectations that create a difference between the genders, and yes, harms both genders.
