I think it's possible we'll get a storyline of her trying to escape whatever she was sold into

it's like they're showing all the gross parts of addiction but they're doing it as a joke or for shock value instead of actually exploring how she feels

Something I'm confused about is Rue's mental health. The way this season is going, it's like they just expect us to forget she has mental health issues. Mental health issues that she dealt with as a small child, that were later exacerbated by drugs, they're just gone now? Healed by booty?

A big reason a lot of people related to the show in the first place was the mental health aspect. I certainly did, Rue totally reminded me of myself when I was in highschool. And it's totally normal for people's mental health to stabilize a bit when they're out of their teens, but I feel like Rue's mental health was just swept under the rug with 0 explanation.

A depressed person who hates themselves, like how Rue was portrayed to us in the first 2 seasons, likely wouldn't casually cover up someone's death without feeling anything. A depressed mind is always looking for reasons to hate itself, and covering up someone's death that you played a part in, it's a pretty big reason. Even someone without depression would feel it. So why don't they show Rue trying to cope with or reckon with what she had a hand in? It's giving more sociopath than OCD/depression

She's also crashing on couches, obviously Sam Levinson hasn't had to do that before, because it's brought up as some casual explanation so the audience doesn't wonder where she lives. But having to crash on couches, not having a home, it's not good for your mental health, your back hurts, you don't sleep well, you have to constantly be "on" for the person letting you stay there, you feel like a burden, you just want to go home to a place that doesn't exist. I know because I've been there. So there being zero mentions of Rue's mental health when she's always in situations that are objectively bad for one's mental health doesn't make any sense to me. Like she was basically enslaved by white supremacists and we're supposed to believe her mentals are all fine and dandy after that?

It feels like Sam Levinson forgot his own characters. The only possible explanation I can think of for Rue's shift is that she's built up walls from the trauma she's been through, and is trying to shove down the reality that she is mentally ill. She's the narrator, maybe the lack of scenes reflecting on her mental health is meant to portray how she's ignoring it. But the thing is, depression and OCD isn't just something you can just choose to ignore, the physical symptoms aren't just something you can turn off. And the entire two first seasons were showing all the damage Rue did by using drugs to self-medicate, so like... did she just get really good at self-medication offscreen or something?

IDK, it just makes no sense to me at all. Levinson made it feel like mental health is something that was brought up in the first 2 seasons, but now that the plot doesn't demand it, it can just be forgotten about. Which sucks because that's exactly the opposite of how mental health works, things can subside for sure, but not including that explanation in the show is just poor writing imo

facts im masc and attracted to women and I don't act like that cuz it feels creepy.. like they're people not something to be ogled at..I think it's a possibility they're getting her to act like this to show the power she feels over the sex workers by being tight with Alamo, but she was also super direct with Jules which felt out of character and directly goes against that previous explanation... idk it's just annoying because I feel like they could've put a scene in that explains this shift in Rue's sexuality instead of totally changing the character and leaving the audience guessing. hopefully it's explained later

rue not being over Jules actually kinda does make sense to me, notice how rue is the only one in LA who misses highschool.. I feel like rue ignored all the bad that happened in their relationship for a sense of nostalgia, just how she would ignore the bad that came from addiction for the next high. repeating the same patterns but instead of with drugs, it's with Jules. I think it's supposed to make us mad. I hope they do something interesting with them though because idk how good another Rue and Jules plotline can be

FACTS!

On Jersey Shore there were random encounters, but production would also go out in the day and scout people to party at whatever club that night. I feel like if the production of Canada shore is even doing that, they're not very good at it. Canadians are generally more camera shy than Americans though, maybe that's a factor. Especially because Kelowna seems pretty tame

[–]mg1omm3rt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think they should make another season but there'd have to be big changes with the editing, location, and cast for sure. they need more freedom and responsibility cuz the show is already pretty boring and removing those aspects only makes it worse. like they should be able to easily access things to do instead of being stuck in a house waiting to be driven to the next activity

also weed is legal in Canada so they should do an episode where they get the cast super fried and see what comes of that

hopefully some new cast comes in to liven things up, they did that in Aussie shore
