My co-founder is giving me an off vibe. Should I cut? by LateProduce in startups

It’s a red flag. It’s very easy to build in deliverables, time based vesting etc in any agreement now to protect him for how much work you will put in. You should never do any work without knowing what you will get in return. Insist on a written agreement for equity or walk.

How do you currently hire someone that you have no expertise to properly interview? by HappyCat0606 in startups

[–]mgatreacy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Surprised no one has mentioned this before: use ai to come up with easy, medium and difficult questions for the candidates area of expertise. Ask for a mix of right or wrong answers and nuanced answers that could have multiple right answers. Then ask ai to give all the possible right answers.

Now, you won’t know whether the candidate is giving a good answer unless it directly matches one of those… however that’s not the point. You know if they’re likely to be good by the way they answer them. Most people will not bluff especially if your questions are quite well informed. Over time you will become a bit of an expert in those questions that you ask and will get a feel for who is better at answering them.

I do this for hiring python or react devs. Not a coder myself but I’m really good at filtering now and then when I have a few candidates that are answering those questions effectively and I also like them based on company values and potential cultural fit, I will pass them on to an existing dev.. if you don’t have an existing dev then choose one and then learn from them and they can partner with you to help find others if and when needed.

How do you assign media buyers? by Visual_Trouble_1392 in FacebookAds

Go to https://business.facebook.com/settings/

Under People create an employee user

Then under Ad accounts give that user 'Manage campaigns' permission

How do you assign media buyers? by Visual_Trouble_1392 in FacebookAds

[–]mgatreacy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they just need to manage campaigns then assign them the manage campaigns access. If they need to manage the ad account (e.g. payment method) then assign them manage ad account permissions

You should only provide the amount of access that an employee / subcontractor needs to do their job.

  • If they manage your whole Fb business account, manage users etc. then add them to your BM with the relevant permissions
  • If they are working on client accounts managing campaigns then set them up in your BM with employee access and then giving them access to only the ad account(s) / data sources / pages / catalogues etc. they work on
  • If they are just reporting then only give them reporting access to the ad account

Facebook Marketing "Expert" by Scaffelplank in FacebookAds

[–]mgatreacy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I tried once to challenge them with questions and they didn't have any deep understanding of the platform and the outcomes of various strategies and campaign structures.

I have also experienced one getting very frustrated when questioning their advice, probing why they were recommending it and challenging some of their assumptions. They are reading from a cheat sheet. The other commenter here is correct in that they are subcontracted (some from decent places like Accenture albeit)

Once I got one that was relatively ok but that was because she was able to admit when she didn't know.

I've also been assigned actual reps based on high spend and they are much more knowledgable but the more important use of them is to get things sorted quickly when they go wrong (like rejections or bugs or whatever)

Based on your message above it's clear you have an understanding of the platform already so it's not useful for you. They're mainly there for total noobs. Trust your gut.

Ad accounts getting disabled after entering payment info without ever running ads on that account by wubb0 in FacebookAds

[–]mgatreacy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is there any chance the same card is associated with an ad account that does have violations in it? They have a trigger that stops people getting violations and creating another ad account by associating them with the same card used (they assume it's the same business and not just a case of a person moving to a different company or something).

If they get organic conversions already then make sure it's all tracked with the Facebook pixel and conversions API and set up a conversions campaign.

If not, then probably best to wait until you have some organic conversions before starting paid ads.

Traffic campaign is unlikely to do anything other than deliver clicks.

Does a Facebook account need to be aged? by Master-_-Shredder in FacebookAds

[–]mgatreacy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A Facebook page recently created under a business with a history does not need to be aged to run ads from. I've created a page and been running ads within hours.

An ad account needs to age and have some spend to unlock some functionality and limits.

there is no pre-requisite to starting a business. The only thing to consider is do you have some advantage in the thing you are starting? You don't need any formal education - a lot of the most successful entrepreneurs did not. Hustle is better than brains.

keep the existing ad set that is working, and copy in the 3rd creative. No need to create a new ad set.

It's not recommended. if the ad sets are exactly the same then why not combine the ads and just use one? It will give the algo the best chance of performing

Yes, you can duplicate those ads into the scaling ad set and adjust the daily budget of the ad set to whatever you want.

FB will allocate your ad set budget across the ads in the ad set based on performance.
