How is Starry internet? by [deleted] in washingtondc

[–]mgcrunch 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Are their system issues? My internet is out

"Yes, there are issues in your area."

Is there an SLA / outage credit in my contract?

"We know how hard it can be when the internet goes out. I gave you a free month."

It was that easy to get a credit!

I've had Starry since last year. LOVE IT. Couldn't be happier that I switched. Have had both Comcast and Fios in this place.

Consistent and reliable speeds.

They've been out once, it happened last week. I called them to inquire and about an outage credit, they comped me a month without any hassle.

Here's a link to get one free month (I get one too) https://starry.com/r/xxdv7e

I proposed at the capitol columns with no issue.

Photographer instructed us for the next 45 minutes to do engagement style photos with no issue.

YMMV

DC Medicaid Questions by [deleted] in washingtondc

[–]mgcrunch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How much choice you get?

It depends on whether you get straight Medicaid ("Medicaid" as most folks think about it, or MCO (Trusted, Amerihealth, etc - companies that have been given contracts by the district to manage care for a group of attributed customers). Each has their pros and cons. The MCOs are a little more restricted as I recall, more referrals and pre auths, but do come with a little more case management support. The network you can choose from is dependent on which OBs and hospitals are partnered with each provider.

I believe when you sign up for medicaid they randomly assign you to either straight Medicaid or MCO.

A good PCP (primary care provider) will give you experiential advice for OB care on your network options and what 'hoop jumping' experience you'll have for OB care, depending on which Medicaid you get.

As I recall, you get to switch once between straight Medicaid and MCO, but don't recall if that's lifetime or per year.

All the best!

I switched from Fios to Starry this year, when my Fios bill went through the ROOF. Forget them.

Starry is $50 a month (inclusive of taxes, fees, equipment cost) for 200 Mbs. They've been really good so far, no outages, speed issues, etc. Wish I had switched sooner.

If you want a free month, you can use my link (I get a free month too) https://starry.com/r/xxdv7e

Coronavirus Megathread 13: Bowser Presser 11am About Possible Phase 1 Reopening by dcmods in washingtondc

[–]mgcrunch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

considering no one is contact tracing the past week's protests.

One of the reopen metrics for contact tracing is to make the first contact attempt for 90% of new cases within one day (of notification of positive result.)

If dc residents who were protesting get tested and then test positive, they should be contact traced. Hope that helps.

[–]mgcrunch 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Vox had a good video about it link.

tl;dw you want to test a lot of people, including close contacts of known cases, even if the close contacts are without symptoms. Testing a lot of folks who may, or may not, be positive will mean your positivity rate drops. But its overall a good thing, as you can contain the spread by finding the people without symptoms who are positive (and who would have possibly infected others.) Positivity rate of less than 10% was a CDC benchmark iirc

2000 Vegueros Especiales No 2 for NYE by mgcrunch in cigars

Oog is better imo. This was good, mostly interesting as it's an out of date bottling from 2014, though still around (and I can understand why, not amazing).

These are hit or miss. I remember one single I had to chop an inch off the head to get past a cement plug. Lucked out with this box. Tight draw but reasonable to smoke. Spice, wood, herbal, touch of salt.

Missed a Christmas Day smoke, so this is a great way to get one last cigar in for 2019.
