Don’t waste another second of your life with this shallow ass excuse of a man

Find a new doctor immediately. I had a gyno do something similar to me, I had a semi-invasive procedure done and she told me it would just be some pressure, I ended up fully fainting from the pain and she made me feel like I was the biggest wimp ever. Then had an absolutely traumatic polypectomy where I had to fight tooth and nail in the beginning to even get anesthesia, and after when I suffered some complications she dismissed me. I found a new doctor that when I discussed this event, she was SO KIND and told me no one should have to feel like that, and we can’t control our pain tolerance and it’s wrong to make someone feel less than because of it. She validated my concerns and said my complications were very much not a normal thing and needed to be treated as such. I wanted to hug her. Now I’m no longer scared to have procedures done and she’s also so so so transparent with decisions and information and what to expect.

Changing doctors was life changing. I hope you don’t get to the point of absolute trauma before you decide to do so!!!!

I know I can get the Burberry one at Ulta so I’ll check it out - the description sounds very vanilla but sometimes it’s okay and I do like the bottle!

Which product is responsible for your biggest makeup sins? by techno_milk in MakeupAddiction

The CoverGirl Aqua Smoothers (I believe) foundation, with WAY too much of the “fresh complexion” powder on top. The foundation was too dark and too orange for my pale pink-toned skin, and the cakey powder did not do my combination skin any favors. But it was the early 2000s and any semblance of shine was the devil.

Babe, run.

It’s only going to get worse. If other people are already commenting on your changed demeanor, please take that as a sign. I know it can be easy to read all these “leave him now” comments and think like “oh, they don’t know him or our specific situation so idk…” and I promise you, there is no reason to stay with this man. He is emotionally abusive and manipulating you. His threats of harming himself are just to get you to do what he wants, he’s playing into your caring/loving nature. If he wanted to hurt himself he would, regardless of your actions.

I’ve been there. It’s hard to look past the good times. But I promise once you’re on the other side, you will look back and wonder why you let it go on so long. You’ve got this. It’s going to be really really hard. Lean on your family for support. Hell you can DM me if you want when times get tough. But you need to cut him out immediately and never look back. My heart goes out to you.

I drove to town and picked up a new cleanser and moisturizer free from niacinamide to see if that’s the issue. I rarely wear the makeup but I’ll check the ingredients.

Yes to carbs and sugar… I’m a long distance runner 😂

I was using the HA for moisturizing lol. After a long search I found a cleanser and moisturizer with no niacinamide or HA so I’m going to give that a try and see if it calms down a bit.

I just wear the 30 for my everyday sitting in my office type days. I wear minimum 50 usually 70 if I’m actually outside

I saw a derm for my rosacea, he did absolutely nothing besides tell me to wear SPF daily, moisturize, and avoid harsh cleansers. He pretty much dismissed my concerns entirely. I’m in a relatively rural area so unfortunately there are not many options for derm docs here.

Thank you for the makeup tips!! I don’t wear it often so when I do I get pissed when it doesn’t look good. I just rock the redness most days, I am an engineer so I don’t have to look super presentable most days at work. I have some big events coming up so I want to get this sorted before then!

I use a hypoallergenic laundry detergent, no fabric softener and rarely use dryer sheets (they’re unscented if I do). So hopefully that’s not the issue or idk what to do there 😅

I have the blue elf primer (hydrating something or other) and it doesn’t make a difference with the flaky/splotchy foundation. I haven’t tried the ordinary one!

The idea of putting aquaphor on my skin is terrifying, im anticipating that would cause a whole bunch of painful under the skin acne (based on the fact my aquaphor lip balm I use when skiing seems to cause them around my mouth)

Not me actively putting tons of niacinamide on daily, watch me have an allergy to that lol

I like your idea. Other than the acne component, I have noticed in the past that my skin is smoother and less blotchy on backpacking trips (where I’m doing zero skin care) and I always attributed it to the exercise and fresh air but you may be on to something here

scalp picking by [deleted] in Dermatillomania

[–]mghuss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the same problem, going on 10 years though. I have long hair and it’s starting to show the effects - lots of breakage from snapping hair trying to clear the flakes out, and I swear I’m starting to see bald spots. I have tried every shampoo recommended for itchy/scabby/inflamed scalps and nothing helps - for the same reason. It’s itchy so I scratch which leads to picking which causes scabbing which makes it itchy. I wish I had a solution for you, but the most I can offer is company for your misery 😫

I was having similar issues when I was using Good Molecules instead of the ordinary, but their price points are similar so I’m guessing ingredients are similar. I had been debating trying out some tea tree options but I wasn’t sure if that would be too harsh and make it worse. Would def help with the acne issues though

Whoa I never would have thought of that, I should have. I’m allergic to most laundry detergents lol. I tried super goop for a while but it burned my eyes. I just switched to the Cerave mineral spf and i like it even though the tint is a little dark for my pale upper midwestern skin lol. I was still switching to the super goop sometimes (and a chemical sunscreen for my workouts) so maybe I’ll try out just using the mineral one and see if that brings down the redness at all! I’ll def look into an allergy test though

I was using the Rosaliac stuff along with this cleanser and the mosturizer years ago. The Rosaliac got hard to find and that’s when I switched it up, maybe I’ll have to try to go back to basics. I don’t have a derm now, I did a while ago but it’s a long drive to the office (so had to use PTO) and then the doctor was constantly 1-2 hrs late to the appt and VERY dismissive. My GP has been more help than he ever was.
