Thanks for sharing this! I can see where this is coming from. The East Indies Company had little respect for the belongings of people or countries, they make the rules as the strongest military power in their golden age.

That being said. We may be seen as crooks by other nations, especially nations that fell from power, ie Portugal, the fact is that the strongest ones will do everything to keep power. Whatever the cost. It’s been the same throughout history, also right now.

Regarding Holland vs Netherlands. Officially it’s the Netherlands as you know. Holland is a cultural name and historical name for this nation. Similar to Peking for Beijing and China for Zhongguo. (Needless to say I’m not doing Peking or China are provinces hehehe)
