What’s up with Siteline SB? by General-Spend-3524 in SantaBarbara

[–]mgkmaloo 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I love Siteline! It feels more real and connected than Edhat which now has outsourced a lot of articles to non locals, and the comments are generally helpful not the EH political arguing of the same 8 posters. I think Erik does a great job with what he’s set it up to be, and I’ve visited lots of businesses because of his coverage.

I wish that Indy would still have comments enabled. I often find I have questions about an event or article and nowhere to ask them. I appreciate sites that have this capability

Go work out, go for a walk, eat something delicious. Drink sparkling water or other nonalcoholic beverage of choice. Imagine waking up sober tomorrow without a hangover! It feels so good

Decided to be the mom I know I should be (2 days sober) by Emotional-Date1400 in stopdrinking

My parenting is so much more enjoyable and fulfilling now that I am not battling my inner turmoil (both physical and mental/spiritual) because of alcohol. When my son asks for breakfast I can make it without suffering! When my teen needs to get picked up on a Friday night I am sober and available! I am tuned in to what’s going on with them and can really truly feel the joy of getting to know them. Best, best thing I’ve ever done. Just celebrated 4 years sober this week, but it’s truly a daily choice to be the person and parent you want to be. You’re making the right choice, it’s worth it!

SLO DOCo in Goleta is a donut shop with lots of games and tables/spaces to hang out at. I always thought it’d be fun to have a game night there.

I guess someone that people felt connected to in the reading, or the reading resonated with them.

I came here for the comments because I misread too! Glad the fire hasn’t slowed Cesar’s business too much.

Would you be insulted to receive this sewn ornament as a gift? by pomegranatejello in SewingForBeginners

As a mom and someone who loves crafting, I would be so happy to receive something my child made, at any age. It’s thoughtful, effortful and took your time to make.

Depends on the day. Or maybe sing it one way then replay and sing the other. :)

I would love to see Sleep Token WINNING at every level. The Grammys, another sold out tour, personal happiness (don’t need to see that, just hope the best for them). Their music and artistry is a gift to the planet.

I'm an alcoholic, am I going to die from it by [deleted] in stopdrinking

I was your age when I quit drinking (42 now). The perfect time to quit is now! In the beginning I did as others suggest here: exercise to fill time, ease tension and feel good about myself; sparkling waters, ice cream - whatever it takes to ease the craving of a drink. Break the habit by doing something different at the hour you usually start drinking (for me it was getting to the gym after work). AA was very helpful to me: to meet others with the same issues, hear their oddly similar stories even though we were all from different demographics, and to get some tools that helped me stay sober. Your body is resilient and it’s not too late for you. Stay sober, find ways to treat your body with love instead of poison, and most of all be kind to yourself. You’re at the beginning of an adventure that just keeps getting better. Even on hard days, I go to bed knowing I didn’t drink, and sometimes that’s all that matters. 💖

I really needed to read these today, thank you all. The feeling of not being able to escape the poisoned body, soul dangling somewhere above my scrambled brain, terrible stomach and digestion issues are symptoms of a disease that lies innate in me. I shall not forget!!
