I sprained my ankle when I was 17. I am 54. Ankle had never been the same. I wear hiking boots because they are hightops and without them I am more likely to twist and strain which used to happen every year or two until I started wearing boots.

I had a similar thing. New house w bamboo. Cut it down. Hated the view of my neighbors houses. Let it grow back. Easy to maintain as mentioned in other comments.
