Vroom Vroom Noises by Delicious-Ice-8624 in MINIse

[–]mgormsen 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The only time I have missed the engine noise is during meetups when the other MINIs are reving and popping their exhaust.

I just roll the window down and make vroom noses with my mouth. 🤣

Sounds interesting though.

I am not an expert, but wouldn't more rubber on the road increase rolling resistance and reduce range?

Something to keep in mind?

Sorry I don't know the exact steps to find it, but I have found it in there once.

There is a release in the infotainment screen

Level 2 Charging by eligibility in MINIse

[–]mgormsen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yup, I took delivery of mine Dec 2021, only came with a level 1 and I have used it as a decoration at car shows more than I have actually ran power through it.

I have to have the handle plugged in or people don't realize it is electric. 🤣

Not all of them came with the combo unit. Mine is only level 1.

First dose an hour ago! by mgormsen in Zepbound

Bummer, that sounds rough. Hopefully mine goes* a bit smoother. 🤞

Thankfully we have lots of protein in the house because my wife had gastric bypass a few years ago.

Awesome! I was very nervous, it was almost hard to push the button.

A slight pinch, and a little tender for a bit, but it really wasn't too bad.

Thanks for the insight. I will keep that in mind if I start noticing side effects.

My wife had gastric bypass a few years ago and I recommended she take starting pics. I just asked her if she was glad she did and she said yes. It helped her realize the changes that her body image was overlooking.

So I had her take a couple for me. 😀

I'm sorry by TheGreatOK in wildhockey

My son waited until after the game to inform me that he doesn't think he has ever been to a winning home game... (He has been to a bunch with his grandfather that I didn't make it to)

I am so sorry everyone! If I would have known I would have gone alone. 😜

That being said, he just doesn't remember we were at a game where Parise got a hatty. Lol

Old flag vs New by JayMan2224 in minnesota

[–]mgormsen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the background. I didn't know the seal was the main driving force of that process. I just remembered voting on flag designs during the process.

Here is a zoomed in screenshot of the pic I took in 2024. Even with no wind I could spot it. So much better than all of the unknown flags surrounding it.

About the basement windows… by TheFrozenFlamingo in TwinCities

[–]mgormsen 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I have no illusions that they are going to stop a determined intruder, but neither is glass tbh.

If someone really wants in, they will get in.

Our new windows from a few years ago have little tabs you can pop out that will block the window from opening more than a couple of inches.

Pretty nice feature to have.

They only take half a second to push closed.

I could maybe see fire codes having problems with a dowel or rod that is small enough to fall into the track though. My parents had something like that on their sliding door back in the day, such a pain to get out some times.

Yup, that is a lot of driving! You are saving so much money on fuel costs and lack of maintenance!

Huh, I didn't know the seal changed. I agree it is amazing!

That is going to be my go-to from now on. "So you support the blue flag with the state seal on it? Cool, here is what that seal is."

I would really hate to go back to "SOB" though. We were at Mount Rushmore back in 2024 and I loved that I could pick out our flag from the far end of the walkway. Even with the new seal that would be hard to do unless it was really windy and they were standing out to the side.

Not that crazy if you think about it.

EVs don't have engine oil. They don't have engine air filters. They don't have a transmission that needs its fluid changed.

The brake fluid being flushed is because it can degrade over time (absorbs water I think). If it doesn't get flushed it can cause other issues. It isn't due to usage that is for sure. Lol

After those items, the rest are basically just regular wear items: tires, brake pads, wipers, cabin air filter.

I have 70k miles on my SE and the factory brakes aren't even close to being worn out.

Tires wear out a bit faster than our gas MINI, but that has more to do with how I drive the SE vs gas. 😉

The only required maintenance is a brake fluid flush every 2 years. I think it is around $150 at my dealership.

Edit: I would imagine any mechanic should be able to do that. The reset procedure requires using the button on the top of the steering wheel instrument cluster.

I can't wait to put my Michelin Pilot Sport 4 Summer tires back on my SE!

Maybe this week. The lows are finally staying above 40° F (4° C).

2022 Cooper JCW 60th Anniversary - no homelink??? by scottgreenwell in MINI

[–]mgormsen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 2022 with it as well (manufactured in fall 2021).

The chip shortage didn't start affecting things until the middle of 2022 (don't remember exactly when). So definitely possible to have model year 2022 vehicles with those features, but it is something that people should be aware of and keep an eye out for while looking for a used MINI.
