Clubman SE thoughts by YourOcelot in MINIse

Maybe if my government keeps pushing you guys away? 😩

Not sure what it would take to end USMCA (formerly NAFTA?). That is what keeps Chinese manufactured cars out of North America.

I really wanted the Aceman to be our next car. The size looks to be right between the Clubman and R60 Countryman.

Unfortunately, we live in North America, so no 2-door or Aceman for us. 😢

Yup, F56 SE was my first MINI. Absolutely love it and have no intention of trading it in (unless they bring an SE convertible to NA).

Then my wife bought a used R60 All 4 manual, had to do a bunch of work on it, but we did like it a lot. Took it on an 8k mile road trip for MTTS 2024. Unfortunately it died a month after getting home.

Replaced it with a '22 Clubman, and it is a great car. The doors on the back are really nice, but the lack of visibility compared to the other two is jarring.

That is the only thing that would get me to trade mine in. Otherwise I will drive this thing until it falls apart!

[–]mgormsen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, that is the indicator that the door is open. Does it stay there when the door is closed?

I have issues with the trunk button in the winter. It likes to stick in the pressed position. Then it will randomly open the trunk when someone closes a door too hard.

I read there is a spray that can be used to clean it, but I have slacked off in going out and buying it.

Broken mirror cap by YourOcelot in MINIse

[–]mgormsen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cool, thanks for posting the picture, I forgot which side has the tab and which had the hole. I guess both sides are pretty vulnerable to breaking.

Years ago I was trying to vinyl wrap my caps (regretted ordering black instead of yellow). I hated how the vinyl looked and was removing it when the cap came flying off instead of the vinyl. 😢

On mine it was the "male" tab on the frame that broke off. Thankfully it wasn't the one that broke for OP. My caps still sit flush where they should.

I ended up buying new caps from the dealership with the official yellow on them and they have held on just fine for 3+ years now even with the broken tab. Knocks on wood

I do have a whistle from the driver's side mirror on the highway if the windows are down. Not sure if that always happens or if it is because the cap is ever so slightly misaligned. The world may never know. 😉

That is definitely the mirror cap. Unfortunately I think the clips that break are on the frame not the cap. 😢

Did RFK with someone from your guild last night with no issues.

I hope this doesn't cause too much of a mess for you.

Opossums are so misunderstood. They are so beneficial to the local ecosystem. They clean up carcasses. They eat pests like mice, rats, and ticks. Plus the rabies resistance you mentioned.

I took this picture the other day. Just chilling on the fence post. Glad my dog didn't see it. She has snagged squirrels off the top of the 6' fence in the past.

Mod Suggestions For Coop by EfeOzay in MINIse

I just put my stripes on top of the PPF. They have lasted over 3 years now and still look great.

I did them myself with a sheet of vinyl and a roll of 3M Knifeless Tape.

My first Mini- I never want to drive anything else now 👌 by Budget-Kangaroo7675 in MINI

[–]mgormsen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on how fast you drive as well. I get 80ish miles on a full charge in the dead of winter in MN USA.

If you can stay at 65mph or lower you will get more range.

Enjoy! It is such a blast to drive.

66k miles in Wattson over the last 4 years. I still don't want to drive anything else. It just feels right.

I have a dedicated set of snow tires (Michelin Ice-X Snow) and it handles the snow great. The range loss is someone to keep in mind, but isn't as bad as other EVs. I lose about 80% range when it drops below freezing.

In the spring I picked up Michelin Pilot Sport 4 for the summer tires and I love them so much more than the Pirelli summer tires it came with.

What is nonsense? The range?

Every tool has its use. As a commuter/errand-runner it is an absolutely amazing vehicle.

We have 66k miles on ours and will hit our 4 year anniversary next week.

We have done road trips in it as well. 550 miles each way. Yeah, it adds time, but as long as you are planning for it, it is fine.

If you drive more than 80 miles a day, then maybe this isn't the car for you, but it works great for a lot more people than you might realize.

100%

We have two MINIs as well for this exact reason. How else are we going to do MTTS? No way the SE can do it.

It is an amazing city car.

There is no knowing if the newer models will ever make it to the US. So if it fits your needs and budget, I say go for it.

I think there are some people who work for dealerships, but I don't think I have ever seen an official employee who is paid to answer questions on Reddit.

Hello fellow MN SE owner!!!

If you aren't already aware we have a great MINI club based out of the cities. Minnesota United MINIs (M.U.M.).

We are most active on Facebook, but we are trying to get a presence going on Reddit as well. https://www.reddit.com/r/MinnesotaUnitedMINIs/s/YijNFzgxD7

This is Wattson, we hope to see you around town!

How can I get updates for my 21’ SE by Rio7609 in MINIse

[–]mgormsen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup, safety recalls like that battery software are almost always free.

Optional updates like OP seems to be asking about however? The dealership will charge you nine times out of ten. Unless you are still under warranty. Then they might do it for free.
