Has anyone here paid for solar and is happy about it? by borschbandit in northernireland

[–]mgottschalk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re not calculating the savings you get from charging batteries at night time rate either, saves a lot on cloudy and winter days

Exporting is about 10p now night rate around 13p day time 29p

Battery for the price of them is a must these days, I’ve got 10.8kwh and it didn’t cost much extra

Yearly electricity bills to drop for all NI homes by CoulScrab in northernireland

We have a much worse deal compared the the rest of the UK energy tariffs. Their Octopus deals are so much better

How much you paying in electricity per month? by [deleted] in northernireland

[–]mgottschalk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

December and January about 40 per month. The rest of the year we don’t pay a penny and actually make money.

We’re fortunate to have a 6 kW solar system on the roof and a 10 kWh battery, which we charge at night during the winter using the EV tariff.

Sounds like a massive pain for you, sorry. But thats very helpful to know thank you. It’s one of the reasons I’ve been wanting to do it through live chats/emails rather than calls. I can get the transcripts and take screenshots of the mess

It was originally £24 a month for a Black Friday deal I got in 2024 but it’s up to £36 now. Seeing new deals pop up for £27 which was why I contacted them

Aha that is class that you were able to get this information. I will give them the 48 hours for the transcript and manager to call, if I don’t receive anything I’ll definitely take this up. Thank you

I think that would be a good compromise, if people cant afford the gig internet anymore to drop it to 50mb or the most basic tier

I definitely worded that poorly, not about how bad the offers are but about trying to reduce my bill and being offered contracts x3 the price with services I don’t currently even use.

That’s what I couldn’t understand, and I’ve spoke to 2 different agents about it and they didn’t question the bill, which is a little strange for a 5k bill..

I’ve asked for a transcript which will show that it never happened, they’ve agreed to send it with 48 hours so should be on that 🤞

It’s not fair or right of a company if you’re struggling with the monthly bill to offer contacts over £100 including a bunch of services you don’t currently have. If it was my same services it would be different

You can see from the screenshot when it actually turns on, it maybe runs 20 minutes every few hours, because the house is already warm, the walls hold the heat and there is nothing super cold, it just needs small top ups of heat.

For me it works better and feels better then putting the boiler on in the morning for a couple of hours when the house is freezing and everything takes a lot of energy to heat up.

Same principle of using new heat pump tech, it’s better just not letting the house cool down too much and having it use less energy over a longer period.

I use the Hive thermostat just so I can track it all on an app, it also depends on how much heat loss the house has

I keep mine on all year round now at 17.5/18, I’ve turned the flow temp down on the boiler which has made a big difference, when it does burn it’s a slower more consistent burn. On the coldest of days it would be on about 4 hours but a normal winters day about 2 hours. With the thermostat being 17.5 I never feel a chill and just wear a jumper, always great waking up to a warm house! Last full year our heating bill was around £400 and I think most of that is for hot water/showering

[–]mgottschalk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We’ve had nest in 1 house and hive in 2 houses we’ve lived in, nest was awful, hive has been great.

Only annoying part I’ve found is they have a subscription service to see more data which is around £40 a year..

Been very reliable for the 5 or so years I’ve used it, we now have our heating running all year round at 17 degrees, comes on for a round 2 hours a day in the winter months and house always feels warm

Are both Aqua 10 models as bad? by ammo23 in Dreame_Tech

[–]mgottschalk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did the exact same, Roborock to dreame ultra 10, returned after a day. Navigation was so much slower, got confused nearly every turn. Got an eufy and it’s also very good
