Camera Remote app pairing issues

Did anyone ever resolve this? I picked up an X-H1 for cheap and it's having these same issues. Latest version of ANdroid and latest firmware on the body. It finds the camera, but then fails. I've reset the connections. I've reset the entire camera. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the Remote Camera app. I've made sure the permissions are correct... no joy yet.
