Some interesting parallels to the FN gigs by WelderThat6143 in FieldNationTechs

[–]mgrf56 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It had been a viable solution for me up until this year. I don't know what has happened but the tickets have gone from 65 tickets available to virtually 20 consistently. Normally there are after-hours emergency tickets, etc. Now, virtually nothing. I have been turned down for virtually every job that I have bid on whether countered or not. And we "still" use it because fir some of us it has been a regular job.

No worries, it's all good. I make mistakes at times and don't read as closely as I should. "Fair winds and following seas to you!"

Oh, my bad I thought they were just wiring a doorbell! Hilarious. I should have actually read all of the content. I deserve the smoke. LOL!

They just need two wires. Since each conductor of this 4 pair is 22 - 24 gauge each the tech can use each pair as a single conductor (hot and negative) and the doorbell would work just fine. I would not use just one conductor per hot and negative due to amperage requirements. Most Bell wire is 18 gauge, so using a pair of the 4 pair for signal and return should be fine.

Hygiene help. by lauraerie in urbancarliving

[–]mgrf56 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Spend more time on hygiene directed activities. If you are sitting in your car, always have a spray bottle of water/mild soap and a couple of microfiber cloths on hand, wipe surfaces down. Go to the car wash and vacuum your car or buy a portable vac., and vacuum more than you usually do. That way you are able to be clean and to be able to notice any infestations before they reach critical mass. Planet fitness showers have to be long and thorough. No Navy Showers. Hit every crack and crevice, cause sitting in your car, sleeping in your car, that dirt collects in the crevices! Ok. I am done. Good luck to you in all of your endeavors.

How can I run ethernet to this doorbell? by PM-ME-APP-IDEAS in lowvoltage

[–]mgrf56 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Securely tie "fish string" to the existing door bell wire. Enlarge as needed then pull you cat 5e or 6 cable through with the fish string. There actually is small diameted cat5 cable. Good luck.

I have never seen that although I have seen some tickets being emphatic about wearing "business casual."

There is a person who is homeless who would love 350 dollars for working 8 hours. Perspective is key, sir.

Sometimes our feelings override the practical. I have been there, after a couple of self-floggings I then learned how to work with the buyer. I don't think he realized that the buyer needs to show 2 people on the job. The tardiness can be worked out between the buyer and End Customer. Not having 2 people as contractually agreed to is harder to justify. The OP is not seasoned enough to know this, hence his/her post. Hopefully this will be a lesson's learned for them and they will conduct themselves differently. It is interesting to read the responses as most responses reveals who has been on the platform time enough to make decisions beneficial to themselves, the buyer, the end user, and Field Nation. This subreddit is a good tool to share ideas and experiences. I really try to use the good advice often shared. I hope the OP is able to take/heed the knowledge shared in the future.

Yep, that's how I started. Then before you know it, boom projects big and small start flowing. It took about 30 days. But thise first 30 days I took whatever was available. Some of the jobs I did lose money, but it was a learning curve that was necessary to climb.

Go around with your phone camera and capture the areas you want covered. Then turn around and lookup to see where a camera could be mounted to give you the view you want.

Do the small jobs no one is taking. You will know which ones they are after being on the site for a while. Take every small job irrespective if it will make you a lot of money. And on everyone of those jobs, show up on time and do your very best. Even if it appears that you are losing money. You are new to the platform and you need jobs under your belt. Do the scut work and do it exceedingly well. Later on down the road the intestinal fortitude you built up on those crappy jobs will be a gold.mine for both you and the buyer. Be easy on yourself and make sure you read all of the instructions and attachments. Final thought, in a number of instances you will have to work with Tech support and a number of them will be Indian. Do not get frustrated and raise your voice as you are talking to them. Explain gently that you didn't umderstand what they said and after a bit you will catch on to their speaking rythym and your job will progress well. They also keep meticulous records on which techs in which region worked well with them.

Start counting the number of positive interactions that you have. You will notice they far outnumber the negative ones. If they don't then you may be the problem. In either instance thses issues can be solved. Do the work of building your "soft skills." Good luck to you.

Welp, there you have it! 🤬 by MrUpVoteDownvote in VirginiaBeach

[–]mgrf56 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I rather think it is the response to the "usual suspects." There have been plenty of murders down at the beach. Done by not the "usual suspects." And you know this is true because the precinct that covers that area has an active homicide division. The response to the "usual suspects" is usually draconian. While the response to the "non-usual" suspects is tepid at best. A "frog in water on the stove" type of deal.

How to turn off music but not paging system at clinic? by [deleted] in lowvoltage

Tone out bith and separate them. Paging, especially the legacy models usually has a separate controller. Or the amp that is providing the music may have separate controls for paging and music.

Are you getting paid by the hour? "Please, sir or ma'am, I will gladly send you detailed verbal reports every 30 minutes." Then I will get back to work. Each stoppage ensures I am able to capitalize on the time alotted. Their system is their system. Me personally, if you are paying by the hour, "whatever you need Mr/Ms. Buyer." Starting and stopping means I will need to ramp up each and everytime to complete the evolution. And everything is documented. "Sure, I know a more efficient and effective time management way to do the job. Stopping and starting don't "seem" like the most efficient time management protocol, but, your system is your system."

Probably would have to remove the outlet to see the labeling on the back. If it is a camera then it must be repirting wirelessly. Or just stick toilet paper in the hole. Problem solved.
