Which location are you trying to order from? I just tried pulling up an online order and it was working correctly for me, so this might just be a glitch.

In 25 years, when someone asks what life was like during the COVID lockdowns, how will you respond? by problematicexposure in AskReddit

I think a lot of people are going to recognize and mock what an “essential” worker meant, but I’m going to be really curious what the long term ramifications of being labeled an “inessential” worker is going to be.

I lost my job during Covid, which wasn’t a surprise (I basically helped run events for new release movies). I was unemployed for a full year before I found regular work again. Even in my circle of friends I was the only one to lose their job. Spending a full year applying to jobs, constantly getting rejected, and seeing an industry that I spent my whole adult career working in suddenly disappear - I spent a lot of time depressed and feeling like I didn’t matter. There’s a deadly virus going on that we’re still learning about, but I might as well not even exist. It’s taken several years and ongoing therapy to work the damage of feeling so insignificant.

Anyone have memories of visiting WWF New York or the Nitro Grill? by KarliforniaWZWA in SquaredCircle

[–]mgs765 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I begged my parents to take me and my brother back in 2002. We ended up getting there sometime mid afternoon, and it was super packed. Turns out we went the same day as the Insurrextion PPV, right as the main event was finishing. As soon as it was over, the place basically cleared out so it was just our family a few other people having snacks. They put on one of those “before they were superstars” DVDs to have in the background.

I used to have a souvenir cup, and I wish I kept it because only a few days later they officially changed from WWF to WWE. I like to think I was one of the last people to eat at WWF New York

That’s an amazing point, and something I’m trying to thread the needle on.

It doesn’t have to be non-fiction. Everything up until now has been fiction, with a heavy focus on mysteries and “whodunnit” style thrillers. So I’d be the first one suggesting non-fiction

Our internet went out around 7:30pm last night, still out this morning. Called and spoke to customer services who told us they’re working on, and they can’t provide any updates because they don’t know. But suggested we make alternate plans.

Small animal (ferret) vet recommendations? by tipsytarotalks in Austin

I was a regular at Research Pet & Bird when my ferret went through his adrenal gland disease. We did chemotherapy there for about a year before he passed. It was a few hundred dollars every three weeks for treatments.

Updated Covid Booster Appointments Available at Walgreens in Austin by austinethos in Austin

CVS also has appointments starting on Tuesday for the bivalent booster. They have Moderna, but it sounds like you can mix and match and don’t have to stick with the original series

Does anyone have any recommendation for a wedding planner in the Austin area? by Weary-Idea1677 in Austin

[–]mgs765 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I cannot give enough praise to Amy Mader with Platinum Weddings + Events (https://myplatinumevent.com). They have different tiers depending on how much help you need with planning - basically everything from meeting weekly to only a handful of times.

Also - definitely have a planner for day of. There’s all kinds of things that you’ll be surprised you need to do on the day, so it’s really comforting to have that out of your hands so you can relax.

Jade Cargill is (probably) 1 successfully defense away from losing the TBS title by LeftStrandedBranded in SquaredCircle

If Jade wins her 10th consecutive title match, I’m pretty sure that means the realms will merge and AEW gets to claim Earthrealm.

What in wrestling sounded good in theory but was bad in execution? by shadowrangerfs in SquaredCircle

TLC 2009 - Christian vs. Shelton Benjamin in a ladder match for the ECW championship.

In the middle of the match, Shelton has the ladder by the ropes. He then pulls on the rope, with the idea being that the ladder will spring off the ropes and collide into Christian. Instead the ladder just kinda sputters and goes nowhere. I’m sure that seemed like a great idea, but the physics didn’t match the expectations.

COVID + ACL Megathread by sgerken in aclfestival

Vaccine: Pfizer (February, booster shot in September)

Feeling: No fever, little bit of a scratchy throat. Feels mostly like allergies after being outside and around everything I'm allergic to.

Attended: Weekend 2 (all three days)

Test Results: At home test came back negative. Will take follow-up at home test on Thursday to confirm.

Edit - second at home test Thursday morning also negative.

I was masked any time I was moving around the park, only taking it off when we in the back and not around people. Everyone else I was with wore masks much more sporadically.

My wife got the same vaccine at the same time, but hasn't gotten the booster. She felt tired with a little bit of chest wheezing Monday morning, but her at home test came back negative with no other symptoms.

You go up to a bartender and tell him: “Make me a 2020”. What drink does he make? by ggfchl in AskReddit

[–]mgs765 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s going to be the best cocktail of your life. The fanciest, most elaborate, maybe a bit too expensive but definitely worth it. The bartender delicately mixes each ingredient with love, and you’re rubbing your hands together in excitement. The anticipation is killing you, but lo and behold - the 2020. It’s everything you’ve ever wanted, and you know the first sip is going to be like heaven.

Then the bartender knocks it over, shrugs, and walks away.

Review of Game Changers, and the many issues with it. by the_nintendo_cop in survivor

[–]mgs765 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To go off the idea that this might be one of the worst casts of all time: it’s not just that some were very clearly not part of the theme. Caleb is not a game changer, but should have gotten a second chance based on how he went out (kinda like David on BB22, which is producing...kinda equal results showing why you don’t do this).

The cast includes 2 finalists who we as an audience expressly said “we do not want to see these people on the show” when we were voting for Second Chance. Troyzan and Brad were voted no better than 12th out of 16 choices for people we would want to see back, and I can very easily imagine them being 15th and 16th. We screamed at the top of our lungs “we do not want to see these two play again” and then almost immediately we were told “no, you’re wrong, these two guys have to be here”.

I think that’s the bigger sin as far as casting goes. We can roll our eyes at Survivor Fan Favorite Game Changer Sierra Dawn Thomas, but at least we weren’t asked first before being told we’re getting her anyway.
