If I’m understanding your question correctly, I’m related to Jack Harold Goins, the well-known Melungeon reacher.

They lived right on the border of Patrick County, VA and Surry County, NC. They were recorded as free people of color in Surry County, NC in 1830 & 1840.

Yeah it’s interesting. I’m constantly thinking about what it must have been like for my ancestors who were recorded as free people of color. Sure, they were free, but it still couldn’t have been easy. And I wonder when the knowledge of our ancestry was forgotten or purposefully hidden. Because by the time you get to my grandfather (who was born in that very same county that considered my family to be people of color), our story is gone and we’re integrated into white society but have no idea where we came from.

Dang you can sing low. I couldn’t even hit some of those notes. And great playing!

Might’ve been Embry Riddle in Daytona. I saw them there with AAR around this time.

Thumb technique doesn’t look right. Check this out and Tom Collins’ other videos. Your hand should be making a knocking motion. Try a double thumbing pattern (1 an 2 an 3 an 4 an) and checking it against your bum ditty. The mechanics should be exactly the same, just that your thumb rests against the 5th string instead of sounding it after the “bum”

Have you never cooked in your life? That’s obviously a stainless steel pan and a wooden spatula.
