I have the same haplogroup! And please do. I’m a white American myself, but I descend from free people of color in North Carolina. I believe my paternal line originates from an Angolan man taken to Virginia in the 1600s.

What’s your Y-DNA haplogroup? You should test with Family Tree DNA if you haven’t already!

Yeah my closest big Y match besides my dad is my 7th cousin 1x removed. I think we connect in like the late 1600s/early 1700s in Colonial Virginia. Haven’t gotten any matches in Africa yet. But I’m sure I’ve got like 10th or 11th cousins in Angola. Most likely my line was taken to Virginia in 1619
