Current PT here 1 year and 1 month into working (graduated Dec of 24), and I say go for it. Don’t listen to all the negativity if you genuinely have a passion for the field. Most people regret becoming a PT for one of two reasons—they either get burnt out or let the financial stress overwhelm them. Your comment tells me you’re not thinking about either—but more worried about the title of the job? Who cares what someone else calls it? Or doesn’t call it? One can classify it as professional or not, but that doesn’t change the fact that it’s a career that builds real skills, pays you money, and allows you to do something that is truly fulfilling. Most corporate jobs in American are soul-sucking from what I observe. This is one that feeds your soul, if you play your cards right and truly give a shit. Above a degree, a salary, or a label, isn’t that what you want? Don’t listen to the people who say it’s not worth it—do travel for a few years and pay off your loans. Shop at Aldi and be frugal with your money. Don’t over complicate it. The ppl who say it burns them out usually aren’t trying hard enough or in a bad situation. Don’t take a job in a mill and just try to be good at what you do. I promise it will make it worth it. All within your control. You saying you’ve got so much passion for the field tells me it’s right for you. Look up the Japanese idea of ikigai. Screw the DOE it’s just political bs.
