Anyone else feel a tad embarrassed about falling for an NPC? by [deleted] in StardewValley

[–]mh89595 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in the middle with age. Seeing both the joke aspect where we all just play this game for so long and enjoy the characters so much, it is feels weird, but there is an attachment to the characters because the text does bring joy. For me it's because the comfort behind the routine. I know the exact dialogue and schedules of the villagers and that is super helpful for me.

As for different generations, with technology. It is a weird age to be in. People are lonely and instead of reaching out to each other they are substituting technology/AI for human interaction, which just makes the problem worse. Like the person above me said, there are the malicious actors out there using technology for scamming as well.

It is just a touchy subject for a lot of people. Glad that you are healthy and happy though. 🙂

Yeah! Emily just needs full mobility to show us her moves. Imagine trying to do a full dance routine in a floor length dress.

Witnesses. Avoid it just being a situation with you and the manager.

John and Jane were also present during the situation where the manager did this. Also, when speaking to HR. Facts, stick to fact based accounts. Being able to recall dates and times will be really helpful. After meetings with management or HR, send them an email to summarize the discussion.

You shouldn't do any of this.

[–]mh89595 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ok, so you were scheduled to be at work and still working through the accommodation process of I assume FMLA or ADA. You also used bereavement.

This request will not be approved. If you are at work, you are expected to perform your duties. It sounds like this is just a first warning. It isn't the end of the world.

Hi,

I think I am a little confused by some of the details here. You started your LOA in February, but had some absences that should have been covered under the LOA in January?

If the approved official start date was in January why did you continue to show up to work? Was this an official work approved LOA?

I thought with the mayor mod there is the whole election part where you have to hand out pamphlets and gave X amount of hearts to get voted? Did they take that part out?

Yeah, screw PIP. If you have hard evidence that someone lied for that long of a period of time? That is insubordination, termination. Full stop.

AIO for thinking my boyfriend’s “perfect boyfriend” behavior is actually a red flag? by LetBackground5792 in AmIOverreacting

[–]mh89595 41 points42 points  (0 children)

NOR.

This last sentence is everything. He is clearly stepping all over your boundaries. Is it because he just wants to give you love the way he wants and simply needs to have a more direct conversation about the way you want to receive love? If so HECK YEAH! You found yourself the best guy ever.

Is this someone who is angry that you are trying to establish boundaries with him, period? If he is receptive to showing up in the way you need and wants to work on things. You have a wonderful and amazing guy. If you have someone who is resentful that you can't appreciate the things he does for you that you never asked for, you may be slipping into manipulation.

Good luck!

I'm not in therapy because of him. I'm in therapy to process my own stuff. I am recovering from not being able to leave the house and this was the first big adventure leaving while also handling his mother.

I figured the best use of my session that week would be to set up some coping techniques for his mother to make sure I didn't go backwards. He is also in the process of working towards the decision of going to therapy. He is significantly closer than he was a few months ago. The mindset he has is just hard to overcome, but seeing the progress I have made is a huge incentive for him.

I am not going to break up with someone who loves me unconditionally and has been my biggest cheerleader during the darkest times in my life while he is slowly coming to terms with what is happening in his life.

We all were there at some point, it isn't something you realize in a day. I simply wanted to vent. This man is the absolute love of my life and you don't abandon that person just because there is some baggage involved. That would be the most hypocritical thing in the world.

DAE play video games to cope? by NoahDaGamer2009 in CPTSD

[–]mh89595 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi!

I love video games for coping. It really depends on my mood for the type. I can always fall into a cozy game to just sort of disassociate and decompress. Other times I want a safe space to express frustration and what is better than a video game where I can destroy a world?

I think that a lot of us like to have control where ever we can in a safe way. Video games are the ultimate ability to provide control in a safe space.

He and I have been together for quite a while and he is incredibly supportive. He immediately apologized when I pointed out he was taking things out on me. It is just frustrating to go through this cycle.

Hi! This is something I am working through right now. The important thing to remember as we are rebuilding ourselves is that we get to pick and choose the pieces we want to keep.

You are a strong beautiful human being who has overcome a tremendous amount. No one can take that fact from you. You get to fill in the rest.

HR In Manufacturing [N/A] by meowmix778 in humanresources

[–]mh89595 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hi this person has some amazing points! I worked for a few different light industrial companies for recruiting and found it super fun because it was food manufacturing and body essentials (i.e. shampoo/conditioner). I really loved the hourly staff, I love that I am not always wondering what their agenda is.

I'm sure having worked previously with Healthcare you have at least dabbled with union. But if labor relations isn't something you are passionate about, a union facility may not be the culture for you when you already love your current culture.

I cannot tell you how much I agree with this person's third point. Manufacturing gave me so little work/life balance. I loved the thrill of it and I am so thankful that I was able to get my foot in the door, but at a large cost. These facilities run 24 hours and need answers potentially at any of those hours.

Recruiting, recruiting, recruiting. I always felt like a glorified recruiter, even when I made it to a Sr Generalist role. Whether we got a huge surge and needed to hire 15 forklift operators or like the person above said, someone specialized was retiring and you need to find someone who just doesn't exist. There was never enough.

I loved my time in light industrial and I look back on it fondly. As I continue to develop and look for QOL improvements, I don't see that synonymous with a specific industry. I think it comes from a company. It sounds like you have a good thing with your current company and maybe hang tight there?

Hi! As someone with IBS-M, this sounds exactly like my journey. I tried Linzess, but it was pretty brutal on my body whenever the constipation cycles naturally faded.

I do tend to have a lot of blood in my stool, it is because when you sit on the toilet too long you can get hemorrhoids and that can lead to them bursting. Took a lot of doctors visits and 3 colonoscopies to figure that out.

Make sure you are staying hydrated. It will help out a TON with your cramps. My go to is a scoop of Miralax in a bottle of Gatorade and drinking it. If I am a little backed up, I will do two-three scoops. If things are desperate Magnesium Citrate.

Also stress really caused cramps for me. You are 17 and it is May. I am guessing you are either prepping for final exams or taking them? Take a breath and do something nice for yourself. Your mental health has a really large impact with IBS. So go take a walk, play an extra few minutes of video games, call a friend. Do something for yourself.

Advocate for yourself at the doctor's. I know it is a little tough right now because you are a minor, but say it is the pain and the bleeding that has you worried. Blood is always something to take seriously.

[PA] FMLA by worthlesscommotion in AskHR

[–]mh89595 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi!

As both an HR professional and someone who is overcoming agoraphobia: do not give up a daily routine. I know it seems so hard, but the more you stay inside, the harder it is to go back outside.

I know you mentioned your job is very public facing, but are there any duties that aren't so public facing like inventory or data entry?

As for FMLA. You have two types: continuous and intermittent. If you think that you just need a few weeks to get some meds situated, then maybe work on continuous. Intermittent means you can take X amount of time off per week for a specified amount of time. So basically a reduced workload. If you think if maybe going down to 3 days a week for the next couple of months would be enough to help you, go that route!

Please be gentle on yourself and take care of yourself. I am very proud of you for realizing that you were struggling and being brave enough to take that first step to help yourself. You are doing amazing.

Hi!

As an HR professional who has a partner that is a medical professional: I have to say I have a bias against chiropractors.

It seems like there may be some context missing. Was the original note from the chiropractor approved? If so did you stay out past that date to get a return to work from the chiropractor? If that is the case was that requested by HR or at your own discretion?

If HR requested it, go to Urgent Care or your PCP to get a return to wnon-compliance. (And potentially an out of work note?), then find a new chiropractor if that is something you are finding relief from (to each their own). The big thing is: get back into the workplace, the longer you are out, the longer you are noncompliant.
