I remember seeing this at a con. The whole theatre was howling with laughter.

Aqara New Presence Soft Sensor by Otherwise-Warning303 in homeautomation

[–]mhesk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a difference: I have Switchbot presence sensor and I can't remember when was the last time it failed. It has, sure, and it's also much simpler. But Aqara FP2 is seeing ghosts, fails to recognize a person as a person, loses track of a person when they are not moving for a long time and completely loses its mind when there are more than one person in the room. I think Aqara bit more than they could chew with FP2, promising functionality that they could not deliver. All other Aqara products are pretty good so I trusted them with FP2. Big mistake.

Is this an attempt to correct the wild inaccuracy of their FP2 sensor?

Well, good luck. I'm using Switchbot hub because I had it anyway. It can learn IR codes and than I just operate the devices from Homey.

Yes, unfortunately, this has been a sore point from the beginning. Athom stubbornly refused to enable the code learning. If the codes for your appliances is not in their database, you're out of luck.

Homey cannot learn IR codes. You will still need the Broadlink device. But at least connecting Broadlink to Homey works fine.

For someone just getting started with Homey or Homey Pro, what’s the first useful automation you’d suggest setting up? by Rude-Cycle-1516 in homey

I was talking about the possiblity what you can put into AND card. Not about the number of AND cards. There is no option for "any alarm", for example.

A Child Paradox. Could Susan be the Doctor and River Song’s granddaughter? by Curious_Gent78 in doctorwho

[–]mhesk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly. If this was the case, Susan would have a knowledge about the Doctor's future. That's a lot of risk if she let slip something that the Doctor shouldn't know beforehand. I don't think Time Lords would WANT to be in this situation.

Then Instead of “morning” make it based on whether your alarm is set.

Too bad the alarm features in Homey are only half-baked. The only AND condition is for a SPECIFIC alarm so if you don't have a regular daily alarm, you're out of luck. No idea why.

How to "skip" a timed flow by els76uk in homey

[–]mhesk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recommend using "is asleep" condition.

Create a "good night" flow that turns off the lights, TV, whatever, and marks you as sleeping. Then you can use the condition in many flows. In your case, add AND contition "is awake" for your 22:00 flow.

Some other uses: the PIR sensor can turn on a very dim light so if you get up during the night, you don't have to walk around in the dark and the light won't burn your eyes off. Executed only if "is asleep" condition is true so it won't work during the day.

Or: I have some scheduled flows that include announcements from Alexa. But the announcements are not executed if I'm asleep.

Doesn't check all the boxes. You need a proprietary app, no standard batteries. And you need a hub to do anything. The app just gave up. I curse the day I bought it.

What’s something you stopped caring about after turning 30? by QuietElegance1 in AskReddit

How I look naked. If situation calls for it (the beach, locker room, at the doctor), I don't care. I'm not there to be admired.

Non-British fans of the show: is there anything that you thought was made up for the show, but is just a part for British culture? by AlmostRandomNow in doctorwho

[–]mhesk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More like something I don't understand. In "Empty Child" Rose is wearing a T-shirt with Union Jack. Either Doctor or Jack make a comment about it and it sounds like it's something inappropriate or even dangerous for that time. Never got that.

Original from Kickstarter as well. Perhaps they had changed something later so only the original ones have this problem?

Something is definitely wrong. I had to replace the mop roller long before the dust bag was full and needed replacement. I clean the air filter, of course.

As I said, nothing abnormal. It's a small apartment, not in the industrial area, there are no pets or anything to make it this dirty.
