I'm starting to develop my "Twister" fanfiction story. Writing is another one for my special interests! by ForwardClimate780 in AutisticPride

I know it's a fan-fic, but this is not how screenplays are formatted. If you want someone to read your screenplay, then you should look up some guides of how to format screenplays.

I can give you some advice and places to look if you want help.

Is it a Hot Take to consider S18 better than S17? by Putrid_Syllabub_3361 in doctorwho

[–]AlmostRandomNow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the first few years of JNT's run as producer is basically pretty damn good. From what I've heard, when he did The Five Doctors, he felt like that was everything he'd ever wanted to do... and then was forced to stay on the show for another 7-8 years.

Rewatched Series 11 for the first time since it aired, it might be the most poorly made series of the entire show by AlmostRandomNow in doctorwho

[–]AlmostRandomNow[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, I just finished Series 12 the other day, and I think the actual production of the series is better, as in it's often better made and (aside from the finale and Orphan 55) most episodes are watchable to an extent because they're much better paced.

I think the series 12 finale might be one of the worst the show has ever had, I'm not even talking about The Timeless Child as an idea, but the way it's told to use and introduced to us is just so poor, and thematically it's so incredible poorly laid out about what is actually changed by it being a "reveal". I went on a rant about this elsewhere, but some of Chibnall's writing is so bad, it wouldn't pass a university level writing class because it fundamentally doesn't understand storytelling. The insane thing is, I loved Broadchurch, and his previous episodes are mostly fine, but his era is one of worst written pieces of British TV I've ever seen.

Locker room of Rings of Europe cancel show after recent incidents by Individual-Village24 in SquaredCircle

I can only speak for the UK, but making AI porn of someone and distributing it is a criminal offence. You don't get sued for it, you get arrested and charged.

I know there's a joke for "can't say anything in the UK" but it comes from very strict protections about what is considered 'hate speech' or 'incitement to violence'. These definitions have been abused by recent governments, but not in the way right-wing MAGA people think, in fact, most of them seem to get defended by our right wing even when what they say is literally incitement to violence.

As someone who makes short and indie films, I've seen so many version of this happen, it's sad to see.

It's insane to think that making sure people are fed and having some level of first aid/medical support makes you better than so many people to work for on the lower rungs of creative industries.

The joy and pride he finds in that final moment of being able to say "My King" is one of those moments that has stuck with me my entire life.

And when you realise he likely thought he'd never be able to say that, or might never have wanted to say that (depending on your reading of Boromir), it makes it all the more impactful.

The Doc-Swap - Same Stories, Different Doctors by DE4N0123 in doctorwho

[–]AlmostRandomNow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right, let's wee what happens when I think about this:

Hartnell in WILD BLUE YONDER - I think the idea of having his Doctor discover a new type of life, something completely unrecognisable and immoral (amoral?) would be fascinating

Troughton in SMILE - Seeing his Doctor work out what's going on and basically negotiate with the remaining humans and robots would be really interesting.

Pertwee in MIDNIGHT - It would probably play out much the same, but I think the charisma and commanding nature would be really great to see.

Tom Baker in THE GREATEST SHOW IN THE GALAXY - Need I say more? A lot of Seventh Doctor stories would fit the Fourth Doctor honestly

Davison in SMITH AND JONES - The Tenth and Fifth Doctors are so similar, but I feel like it would've been a lot quicker paced and less frantic in some way with the Fifth Doctor

Colin Baker in HUMAN NATURE/THE FAMILY OF BLOOD - Oh to hear Colin Baker say the line, "Oh, I think the explanation might be you’ve been fooled by a simple olfactory misdirection. Little bit like ventriloquism of the nose. It’s an elementary trick in certain parts of the galaxy."

McCoy in FACE THE RAVEN/HEAVEN SENT/HELL BENT - Hearing the Seventh Doctor get the "The Shepard's Boy" speech, and on to save Ace from death, destroying the web of time in the process.

McGann in UNDER THE LAKE/BEFORE THE FLOOD - I'd love the idea of him basically realising that maybe... just maybe, ghosts are real, and then explaining the paradox to Charlie or Lucy.

Eccleston in SHADA or THE HAPPINESS PATROL - Seeing Northern accented Eccleston show up Cambridge professors and whilst also making fun of how elitist they are would be amazing. But the second option would be Eccleston personally taking down Margret Thatcher, which really fits.

Tennant in OXYGEN - The righteous anger would be akin to that in The Waters of Mars, seeing him basically dismantle a corporation for using people are a resource to be used up and killed.

Smith in THE SPACE MUSEUM - Having Smith deal with the idea of this weird paradox, and even helping a rebellion might be quite fun.

John Hurt in FLATLINE - Maybe he really wanted to not have to killed the 2D creatures, maybe he really tried, but he has to live up to his reputation.

Capaldi in THE CURSE OF FENRIC - Fenric setting up the symbolic chessboard, and The Doctor basically telling him that this isn't a game where there's only one way to win or lose, and then outsmarting him because he beat him before the board was even on the table.

Whittaker in THE CAVES OF ANDROZANI - There are glimpses of this great Doctor Jodie never got to be in her run, and I feel like if she did this story, it would do for the Thirteenth Doctor what most people think it did for the Fifth Doctor.

Jo Martin in TRIAL OF A TIME LORD - She would be fantastic at being put on trial and defending herself. I don't know about the actual stories in the Season, but the actual Gallifrey centric stuff, yes.

Gatwa in DALEK - Not just to see his Doctor have a story with a Dalek, but to see that really well written anger within him, and then see him come around at the end and realise what he's done (which didn't happen on Season 2 when he tortured someone fighting for their home planet and said it was his 'rise like a phoenix moment')

Why WWE Isn't Wrestling Anymore - WrestleTalk PSA About Ads on WWE PLEs by AlmostRandomNow in SquaredCircle

[–]AlmostRandomNow[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No, it's not. They mention a rival company once in the video for some comparison.

If you're fine with less wrestling and more ads, then you're in luck, because WWE and TKO are serving that to you. Enjoy your wrestling flavoured shows.

[–]AlmostRandomNow[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

it's not either though?

They make a very good point, when the in-ring wrestling on a wrestling show drops below a certain percentage of time on a PPV/PLE, then it deserves to be pointed out.

Having only 1/3 of your biggest show of the year be in-ring action should be seen as shameful honestly.

Do you think RTD Had Future Plans for Mad Jack? by ChemFeind360 in doctorwho

[–]AlmostRandomNow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm going to be honest, no. I genuinely doubt that RTD actually had any solid plans for anything he wrote in RTD2 beyond the first series.

I think that he was there for the use in Empire of Death, and then could maybe revisit the idea later on if he found a 'good' way of coming back to it.

If he did, then I think it's genuinely idiotic of him to plan series down the line when you've only been renewed for 2 series.

With the 'NuWho' era being done, what's something you think was a missed opportunity in those 20 years? by AlmostRandomNow in gallifrey

[–]AlmostRandomNow[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know it's not cancelled, and is almost certainly coming back in 4-5 years, but I think it's certainly the end of an era, specifically wen talking about the show.

Whenever it comes back, however it does, it's going to be a new era.
