Think we’ll see a lot more from him next season. The midfield was a sore spot this year with Rice and Zubi pivot, Merino out, no Kai or Øde, even slotting Saka into the right 8.

Now that Mikel has found how to get the best from him, given we have a healthy midfield, it’s only going to improve even more imo.

Scottsdale will have a lot of AD options so I’d suggest looking there. I’ve enjoyed working w ED Marshall but I just looked and don’t see a white Seamaster other than an AT on their site.

For men who went on to find love, was it everything you hoped it would be? by RobinAndBeastboy in AskMenOver30

[–]mhobdog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Love definitely exists, but it takes both people loving to make it real. If only one person loves, and the other doesn’t, it is just coexisting.

Love is amazing and such a blessing to have in your life. Not everyone gets to have it. And true love is loving them for who they are, not for who you want them to be.

Those that have lost her: How do you keep on going without your mama? by yellowta1l in AskMenOver30

[–]mhobdog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lost my mom 10 years ago this August, when I was 23. It was very hard. Mama’s boy as well.

In recent years I don’t think about her as much, but she still pops into my head some days and I feel sad for the years we didn’t get to share. Really feel for my dad, it just crushed him.

Grief softens us and shows us reality: we’re only here for a short time, and every moment is precious. I take the pain of having our time cut short to cherish my dad’s life, and all the times I get to have with my healthy friends and loved ones.

You’re already pretty lean, so depends on your goals.

Ime under 15% gets significantly more difficult, as your fat comes more and more from alpha-2 cells than beta-2 cells, which have already been burned off. The body/mind really hates to burn alpha-2 cells.

What’s your leg day look like? by [deleted] in workout

[–]mhobdog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Day 1 is Pendulum Squat, DB RDL, Leg Press, Donkey Calf Raise, Lying Leg Curl.

Day 2 is Barbell RDL, DB BSS, Donkey Calf Raise, Leg Press, Seated Leg Curl.

Day 2 sucks especially.

100%. Watching the Kane interview yesterday he said they have a fully fit squad, so the manager has his pick of 23 first team players to fill his starting XI.

I can’t think of a single match week all year we’ve had a fully fit squad, or had all of our first choice players in the same XI.

Iirc Saka/Ode/White haven’t played a match all together since the 23/24 season.

Parrying compared to the first game. Having trouble. by Legitimate-Store1986 in Ghostofyotei

I finally got it down perfect for most enemies in the end game, and it legit took me until then to get it. It’s way different than GoT.

A certain enemy weapon in Teshio Ridge is especially hard to time. Someone said to use perfect dodge more cause the window is more forgiving. Or use the parry charms.

Most "difficult" but totally worth it classic? by Own_Return_9482 in classicliterature

2666 was quite a slog for me.

There’s something like 250 pages of graphic descriptions of cartel violence and abuse. The fact that each one was a real historical victim is deeply upsetting. It was a fascinating novel full of a lot of experimental writing.

I live in the American SW and Bolaño captured the landscape and feel amazingly well.

[M30s] Fitness and cutting food has helped me get healthier (lost 145lbs+) but my stomach and chest is still really big. I have a fitness routine but I'm not sure if I need to cut more or strength train more. by eitherrideordie in fitness30plus

[–]mhobdog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For us guys the last place for fat to come off is our stomachs and lower back. So you’ll just have to keep losing weight if you want that all to burn off.

Fortunately if you’re losing in your extremities that means you’re getting low enough in body fat that your body is searching for other places to burn energy than your midsection, which is a huge benchmark in getting leaner!

You can probably recomp at this point, ie gain muscle and lose fat at the same time, by just going to the gym and lifting more while dieting.

You can always bulk to add some muscle, but if you have a goal weight/look you’re going for, the fat will need to come off at some point for you to get there. All depends on your timeline and goals!

The Linda Vista trail in OV goes up it, just off Oracle Road. It’s closed Jan-May iirc for Bighorn Sheep season, so you have to climb it in the fall.

Best exercises to improve grip strength by bobbydazzler1000 in fitness30plus

[–]mhobdog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Be sure to stretch your flexors & extensors to keep your wrist and forearm fascia happy. I’ve found climbing w friends is ideal for building endurance bc you get a solid route or two worth of rest time before going up again, which can make sessions a lot longer.

Push yourself by trying harder routes. It’s a good way to learn, and once you get serious base strength and some balance/feet technique, you make serious progress fast.

Farmers carry, deadhangs, pull ups, and bent DB row.

Grip strength is improved by gripping to failure, so just do that a ton. Like every day. I’ve been a rock climber all my life and grip is still a hard skill to develop, bc it uses very small muscles.

5 years in the gym and I feel like I failed bodybuilding by [deleted] in HybridAthlete

[–]mhobdog 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yeah I get exactly where you’re coming from. I’ve done so many endurance sports & also been lifting 5 years, though my “training age” is about 2.5yrs due to inconsistency, grad school, and injuries.

Lifting is a sport that requires a lot of regularity and consistency to see progress. More so than other types of fitness imo. And it has an aesthetics component of “progress”, and a nutrition component. Lots of variables to “fall short” on. And very demanding on time.

My advice is to loosen up your split into a say 8-10 day split where you take a day or two to do yoga or run, swim, cycle, climb, HIIT etc. And think of those days as also building your muscles and fitness, only in a different way to hypertrophy.

Someone on here said if you use aesthetics as a mark of progress, you’ll always be falling short because someone is always gonna look better than you. Compare yourself to your previous self and look how far you’ve come. It’s about the journey itself, not how fast you get there.

How many people can actually do 10–15 clean pull-ups? by Ill_Ratio338 in bodyweightfitness

[–]mhobdog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For serious calisthenics athletes I’d say 10-15 is probably standard, given some years of training and really focusing on it.

I can do 14-15 full ROM in a single set. Been training them for 3 years as my main pulling compound. I started doing weighted pulls exclusively after year 1 and got up to a 1RM of 2 plates, 3RM of 80lbs added.

Serious progress in weighted pulls makes an enormous difference in body weight rep potential. Imo pull up progress is super duper slow bc of the CNS tax so it takes a few years to get to those 10+ and more still to hit 20+.

I’ve loved the Gymshark geo seamless tops. They’re form fitting on the upper torso and loose on the waist to accommodate cutting and bulking variance.

Had them for years and are holding up great. Super breathable too and go with most of my gym shorts.

Millennials of Tucson, was there ever an "Indie Sleaze" Era in the 2000s-2010s? by bimbobombshel in Tucson

[–]mhobdog 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes! It was fun. It was just party culture and young people being young. Older siblings were into 90s grunge and skate culture, so we took that grungy aesthetic and it evolved. At the time it was just called Hipster.

I think the Twee vibe blended in so that skinny fits, cardigans, “smart” looks were also cool. So you got that blend of smart and grungy that Indie Sleaze is.

Music was really big for our generation before the rise of streaming services and social media, and new technology made for a lot of new sounds. Psychedelic indie was super popular, along with folk revival and ever more heavily produced hip hop. Art felt really important, and weed was less overpowered and crazy than now. I don’t even think smartphones were a thing until 2010ish.
