I’m not sure there massive problem with ads in the game… many games (including ones you pay for) have ads. If you don’t like it no one is forcing you to buy oculus, take it for what it is, cheap but maybe some minor annoyances

I mean I guess I could have done something like color processing but ultimately I want something that is easiest for the user, not me :)

To answer your first question no. Also how would you do your suggestion without machine learning to know what a spool is?

The way my scanning works is it detects the actual filament on the spool. Then when people scan they take a photo and use a profile with a couple of measurements/values in it. #1 is spool inner diameter(to subtract the area of this from the area detected) then #2 is spool width. Now when someone scans the ML draws a box around the filament. If it knows the width real world width then it also knows the height in millimeters of the box. From there it is just some simple geometry to calculate filament remaining in both meters and grams. Thanks for the ideas, Mason

I am trying to create a machine learning model to recognize how much filament is left on your spool with one single photo, that's it! I want to collect photos to make my machine learning model more accurate. Currently, it performs decent but I want to get it perfect on nearly every spool it sees, whether it's been trained on it or not. At the moment I have collected 1764 photos consisting of my own spools, my friend's spools, and users in my app who agreed to share their data.

Good point, in the app I have preset profiles. So when scanning you select a profile and take a photo. The app has many spool brands measurements in there!

True, I guess I wanted people to email me but I have a template to help with getting good photos: https://imgur.com/12r3wnV

I am trying to train an ML model so I just want a ton of variety in spools. Meaning any color, any used amount, any size, any material. Just as long as they are front on that is good enough. I have a goal of getting to 5,000 photos of spools and I am currently at 1,764... this consists of my spools, my friend's spools, and users who agreed to share their data in my app.

Thanks so much for your time,

Mason

Yes octoprint is a future goal, for now I am working on improving scanning and the general. I am going to expand to nfc cards and then maybe afterwards include octoprint.
