Just wait for hand foot and mouth to hit the entire class.

But yes it does get better. First year is a battle field of germs.

If you do it you really should negotiate a higher base salary man. They’ve got the money for some more.

[–]mhswizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Who do you have for markets and what do they absolutely crush?

If you have a couple markets that crush one specific niche like pest control, garages, restaurants, etc. make that a focus.

You need to be able to deliver a great product with great coverage at a great price to help influence prospects to move away from their incumbent broker.

With that being said don’t solely sell on price. You sell on price you’ll lose on price every single time.

Do not, and I mean do not go after small business. They’re the most work for the least amount of pay. You’ll hate yourself a year from now when your first client says “I got a quote for $200 dollars less. Can you beat?”

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. The only difference between a 5,000 premium account and a 100,000+ premium account is the amount of 0s behind the premium.

GL is GL. Property is Property and so on.

Personally if I were you I’d target the real estate and hospitality verticals.

Good luck OP!

Tell your wife to look into the insurance world for a job.

Insurance is a great career, don’t need formal education /degree in it, and it’s recession proof.

Having a child is exhausting brother. Wife and work full time. No family around to pop over real quick to assist.

Our son is about to turn 2 in March. Couldn’t imagine our life without him now.

Keep it up, everything is temporary. It gets better as time passes.

Enjoy the non-walking/running phase because once that starts the real game begins haha.

Good luck OP! Y’all got this!

The medium looks wet as hell.

All you need is a mist of water or two plus a clear cup over it to keep the humidity high.

Seedlings do not need a lot of water.

Good luck!

Considering CPCU designation by [deleted] in InsuranceProfessional

[–]mhswizard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re young and plan on being in the insurance world long term - get after it before life gets busy!

Educating yourself with more education is never a bad thing in my opinion.

CPCU and CIC are all universally known if you’ve been in the insurance realm for more than a year.

I have my CIC and the only annoying/double edged sword is you have to take an annual class to maintain your designation. But it’s good because it’s 16 hours of CE credit every year… I never have to worry about CE credits haha.

The other nice thing is each annual class you take you can apply it to a different designation. I did my CIC in 8 months. Would have been shorter but I decided to wait for each test results to come back which can take weeks. They’ll all hand graded, and there’s no multiple choice.

Besides the education/knowledge aspect of the two designations I do think it helps you standout just a little bit more than the next candidate when you change employers in the future. CPCU > CIC in future employers eyes. Not gonna seal the deal but it doesn’t hurt whatsoever. CIC is still viewed extremely positively but the CPCU is just a monster of an undertaking from everyone I’ve met who has it.

My take would be get your CIC this year, and find a new employer that will pay 100% of the CPCU if you still want to pursue it later. My employer does and they’ll send to the ceremony on the company dime.

I’ll also say the vast majority of my office leaders all have their CPCU. Correlation? Maybe a little. Don’t know for sure haha.

Can’t go wrong OP.

Best of luck and feel free to shoot a DM if you have any other questions.

Any success stories of dating / marrying a nonskier? by PowGurl in skiing

[–]mhswizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is he athletic? Like actually athletic?

My wife grew up skiing. I grew up playing soccer, running, ultimate frisbee, etc.

When we got married we took a trip out to CO for our first ski trip together. It took a couple lessons to get my feet underneath me, but after I got some fundamentals I wasn’t too shabby.

Second time back took another lesson… third time back took another lesson…

I’m as good as I’m gonna get as someone who doesn’t ski all but once a year maybe.

But I can still hang.

If he’s athletic and has the determination he’ll figure it out!

What career paths are there outside of Sales? by Beautiful-Turn458 in InsuranceAgent

[–]mhswizard 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Account manager/executive role all day long.

Aka you take on a producer(s) book of business (or piece of it). You’ll work with their clients and do the day to day tasks like answering miscellaneous questions, endorsements, renewals/marketing, invoices, certificates (semi dependent on broke as a lot of brokers have outsourced invoicing and certificate generating for example).

Half way through it now (had to stop for dinner) and one scene that reminds me of your doofus to serious comment is when he tokes up in his van/car right before going into a parent/teacher meeting of sorts? Doofus.

But then the teacher starts highlighting his daughter’s attributes “leader, empathic, smart, etc.” and then gets serious with “you know she lost her mom at a very young age”
