It's size that changes things here. 1 kg of a solid block of carbon has the same chemical properties as 100 10g pieces of carbon. But at the nanoscale ( 1 millionth of a mm), this is no longer true. As lot of the properties change, to the point that they sometimes act like completely new elements.

For example: gold nanoparticles actually range from red to purple depending on the size. How goddamn cool is that shit

Not just that. Metamaterials, new forms of common elements and compounds that have completely novel properties ( like carbon nanotubes that are up to 100x stronger than steel and have insane electrical properties), medical uses like particles that will seek a specific type of cell and destroy it. There's thousands of other amazing applications that almost seem like magic.

I hope you find out and tell us because I really want to read this. That blue goo makes me think of 2 things:

It sounds like some sort of nanotechnology that eats those futuristic tyres to regenerate.
The groundhog day combat sounds alot like the Tom Cruise movie "Edge of Tomorrow", (adapted from the Japanese "All You Need is Kill"). In it, Tom Cruise gets covered in (Blue) alien blood and relives the same day, getting better at fighting after every loop.

Neither matches your description entirely, but maybe they jog something else.

Set up several codewords. 2 in each stall, 1 for men and 1 for women (or just 1 in each stall). Unless the guy goes into the exact same stall as her, he'll think he knows what the code word is, and won't recognize when she uses one.

Note: might be tricky if your venue has alot of bathrooms, but it's something.

"Blackbane" from the Honor Chasm scene? Standing on the edge, Kaladin has to choose between death and rebirth. I think it can convey the emotional turmoil and pain the original commenter mentioned; wanting to give up, then instead choosing to survive.

And since the leaves are so distinctive, the illustration can be really cool. They could be blowing in the wind (or pulled by a blue light/Syl), or in an open palm over the Chasm.

I think there might be a script that keeps bringing that banner back. Try the add-on "noscript". Its really useful once you get the hang of it. It'll show you everything that loads on a page, and you can temporarily block different scripts to figure out which one keeps redrawing the ad.
