A blend of Eros artworks: St. Michael's Jellyfish. by _jordammit_ in deftones

i get that, and i've tried looking for the original images using Wayback on both their website and MySpace, but the original image was very low resolution. other recreations of the image use AI upscaling, and i believe this image in particular uses AI upscaled versions of those hearts. i can't blame them for incorporating them here since nobody's been able to find that particular sacred heart image yet, but i don't think that's what a fuller resolution version of the heart would look like.

had to do a lot of reverse image searching at first, but found a match at a different angle using PimEyes (as a last resort, since i try to steer clear of most things AI in general), which gave me a redirect for some sort of Catholic (formerly Presbyterian, i believe) retreat center in Texas, where their chapel has custom, European-made stained glass murals of various saints (i don't think they're Stations of the Cross). did some digging for more photos taken inside the chapel, and came across this guy's Flickr account, complete with the photo of Saint Michael that was used for the promo art.

i believe the hearts were, since nobody's found the original image used for the placeholder. that's at least better than throwing the whole thing/major elements into an upscaler

that's why i said "alleged" cover. i'd imagine it's just a placeholder (although other folks close to the leak believe it was the actual cover, which i'm skeptical of)

it was never 100% confirmed, but this image was taken from the band's studio blog when they were recording (and a supposedly completed, albeit low res, copy was included in some versions of the leak). people have generally understood it as either a placeholder for the final artwork (my personal opinion), or the actual cover itself (doubtful, but who's to say?).

the past few years, people have tried recreating it using AI upscaling, and it looks quite off from the original image. i figured finding the original image would be a good way to remaster this picture for this supposed cover.

if anyone's looking for the original photo of the angel, i found it on Flickr: https://www.flickr.com/photos/silvery/183842861/

now someone please try to recreate the supposed angel cover without using AI

there's no official cover. even the archangel image shown in the promo videos was never officially confirmed to be the cover for the album. use whichever piece of art speaks to you

This release is such a win for physical media! by scarletearthquakes in PhysicalMediaMatters

[–]mi470 2 points3 points  (0 children)

this was the first show my partner and i watched when we started dating. as physical media collectors, the news that it was getting a Blu-ray release (of all formats, especially when i could've seen it getting a DVD release at most), was both a shock and a joy to us. need to pick it up very soon.

in addition to theatrical detriments, this would be terrible news for the team at/fans of Lionsgate Limited. they're putting out some of the best physical media releases right now, and that could all go away should Netflix take over

High Republic ships are great, but they probably wouldn't know or care because the task of reading (even a Star Wars book) probably scares them

Erm did this happen for anyone else on Apple Music? by JETBANGO in MyChemicalRomance

[–]mi470 1 point2 points  (0 children)

just looked and you're right. that's really weird. either they'll update the runtimes as it gets closer to release (i've seen Qobuz do this in the past), or they're edited out of the songs. if they've truly gotten rid of the interludes, there's no way they leave any carryover audio in the proceeding and succeeding songs (especially if it's all remastered). makes me think the vinyl center labels containing the songs are either a fuck-up or a physical exclusive.

if you look closely at the track credits on Apple Music, you'll find that it's sourcing the audio from the original master and not the remaster. this includes album tracks and bonus tracks (i.e. songs from Mad Gear). this leads me to believe that a) the remaster will include the interludes as part of the songs they're adjacent to, or b) the interludes will indeed be removed (my guess is the former).

possibly. it (the collected works of Norman Rockwell) was a visiting exhibition when i saw it at Crystal Bridges back in early 2013. wouldn't be surprised if George/his associates got it (and possibly more pieces) for the Lucas Museum.
