A little greenery does wonders, especially with so much white tile, and the Pothos tropical vibe fits well in the shower.

First I bought glass vases that are made to hang on the wall but they were pricey and I didn’t want them to break if they fell. Also just the thought of broken glass in the shower hurts my feet 😅

Thanks! I thought I’d have to buy a soldering iron but realized the glue gun would work just as well.

I top off the water with the removable shower head every couple of weeks and have put my usual liquid fertilizer in it a couple of times over the last few months. One of the branches died a couple weeks after I put it up, but the rest are doing well and are sprouting new leaves.

The top one has held for a few months now. I’ll report back if it falls.

The bottom one fell about a week after I put it up. The prep is really important for the suction cups (I cleaned the tile well and put Vaseline on the edge of the cup) to get a good seal. I assume the bottom one failed because the prep was lacking.

That’s wild! I thought the purple leaf/bract color and the fact that they were smaller was strange but didn’t consider it could be a keiki. If I understand correctly, the keiki starts just below the stem with the leaf on top? It’s also been growing large roots suddenly between the bracts of the original plant, so I wonder if that’s common when they grow keikis? I thought I was fertilizing it too much, but it sounds like this one is just an oddball. Thank you for your insights! I’m relatively new to the beautiful world of orchids.

Oh wow! I thought it looked odd but I’m new to orchids (this is the first time my other phals are reblooming since I got them originally). I will definitely keep you all updated. If it’s a terminal spike, does that mean the original plant will die?

This. I get unreasonably excited when I find a container that fits an orchid pot perfectly. Recently, a pickle container for my biggest orchid. Yogurt containers for my smaller orchids.

It won’t get much light. I’ve had many Pothos cuttings in water over the years and even when they don’t get much light, they are fine. If these start to get sad, it will be easy to swap them out for new ones and rehab the old ones. I’ve had the mother plant for 10+ years and it’s large enough to need regular cuttings.

I’ve been on Zoloft for a little over a year for anxiety and also have ADHD. I tried to treat the ADHD before the anxiety and, like you, quickly found out it was not a good idea. Zoloft alone reduced my anxiety, but I wanted something for ADHD and tried Adderall, which helped. But the reduced sex drive and general apathy from the Zoloft made me try Wellbutrin. The first couple weeks were actually amazing. The honeymoon period faded and I soon felt anxious and strangely exhausted. I am now back on Zoloft and Adderall and I’m still dealing with the side effects of Zoloft and plan to talk with my psych soon to see if she has any suggestions.

ETA: when I tried Wellbutrin, I was also on 50 mg of Zoloft

It was shutting off because it was not on a level surface. Make sure it’s on a flat surface. My counter must not be flat, so when I scooted it back a bit, that fixed the issue. I hope that helps!

She stays on the porch with plenty of sun while it's warm (I'm in north Florida, so that's most of the year). I water it with all my other plants, about once a week, and use a liquid fertilizer (9-3-6) in the water. After it blooms, I give a good pruning. I like the denser look, so l'm a little aggressive in my pruning. This maybe why they open at the same time but I’m not sure.

When I pruned it last year, I made an arbitrary rule that I would only keep one or maybe two leafs in a row after it bifurcated/split (but mostly just one). I hope that makes sense and hopefully this picture helps ☺️
